A noble family in Norland is an important aspect of successful kingdom management. Lords not only oversee the economy, but also influence foreign policy and trade. The game has the ability to customize lords when creating a party, and in this guide we will look at how to make sure that from the very beginning you have not just a noble family, but an effective machine that will give a powerful start to the entire kingdom.
How to Create a Noble Lord Family
Speaking of the default settings (two brothers and one of them has a wife), the game tends to give characters similar traits. For example, a leader with a high Command skill will also be a skilled Fighter. His brother with a high Management skill is usually strong in Trade.
However, the first two lords are charged with traveling around the area to establish friendships and make profitable trades. This is where the problem arises. A leader with low Manners will not be able to make friends effectively, and a skilled ruler will be torn between giving orders and traveling to make trade deals, since his skills are likely higher than most of his neighboring kings (the game usually assigns only fighters).
Therefore, when creating a noble family, you need to choose traits that will free the starting characters from a double or triple burden. Let everyone do their main job , and have enough time for this, and in between help with less busy issues. For example:
First Brother (King): Manners (with the Charismatic perk), Persuasion, and a bit of Intelligence to ensure diplomacy is top notch and learning new things is on track. The Empath trait will help you win friends even more, and Ugly is the least offensive of the negative traits.
First Brother's Wife: "Intelligence", "Management", "Teaching". At first, she will have to deal with domestic policy and learning new things. Over time, when children appear, she will be engaged in their education and the teaching skill will come in handy (with the "Insightful" perk). Additional traits are "High Fertility" and "Unsympathetic" to make it easier to bear the absence of a husband.
Second brother: " Trade " (with the "Forecaster" perk), a little bit in "Fight" and "Intellect". His main task is to conclude profitable trade agreements, and to fight well (stronger than regular smerd soldiers + equipment). This brother will often hang out on the outer track, only occasionally being distracted by studying knowledge.
Remember that each point in the character's skills is "bought" for age: the more experienced the lord, the older he is, which is not always good. Creating a family with characters over 35 is still age-related and you should not get carried away with distributing skills to her. Optimally 30 years.
Tip: You will recruit a good Lord Manager and Lord Warrior later. Don't worry if your characters aren't as good at managing as you'd like at the start of the game. Every enterprise produces 100% of its resources, and all a manager gives is a productivity bonus.
But in early access this aspect was not yet well tuned and even characters-professionals in management often have 110%, while experienced in this matter - no more than 130%. In numbers everything looks significant, but in fact the bonus is revealed in the endgame. And at the beginning of the game, your industry is unlikely to produce more than 20-30 units of goods per day and the bonus from a cool manager will be an additional 1-2 units.

Building a noble family requires a strategic approach to choosing lords and their duties. And if your own are not born, you can always strengthen the family by bringing in more venerable strangers!
