Guide: How to earn gold in Norland and where to get sacred rings

No strategy can do without gold or its equivalent, and Norland is no exception. Sacred rings are a valuable resource needed to hire lords and perform rituals. Knowing how to properly manage both and find new sources of income is the key to the successful development of your kingdom. In this guide, we will analyze how to effectively earn gold and where to look for sacred rings to maintain the stability and prosperity of your city.

In Norland, gold is more of a bargaining chip than a store of value. You need to monitor your balance so that it does not go into the negative, but do not be afraid to spend gold, the main thing is to ensure a stable inflow. There is no way to get gold in the game, and there were no other assets for self-conversion into coins in the early version of the game. Therefore, the only way to earn money is trading. It is presented in two main options:

  • A merchant, or better than nothing. All because he buys your goods cheaper, and sells his more expensive than you can find in the world as a whole. But you can sell him more goods, although not indefinitely - with large sales volumes, a discount will start to apply. Among the merchants, there are often characters with a high trading skill, which can further worsen your position if you do not have a lord with the same skill. In general, the option is not profitable, but you can't do without it.
  • Trade agreements with neighbors. They will sell you their goods cheaper, and buy yours more expensive than the Trader. However, their daily purchase and sale volumes are limited - from 10 to 30 units of goods, and the choice of available goods is not always large. Nevertheless, this is the most profitable way to get gold at the time of the game's release in early access.

How to earn gold in Norland?

We've sorted this out. But, as the classic said, to sell something unnecessary, you first need to find or make something unnecessary, and we have no money. So let's look at the general scheme for earning gold in Norland, through the production of this very unnecessary thing:

You buy raw materials -> process them -> sell the final product.

At the beginning of the game, it is most profitable to sell beer, fragrant ale and flour. Later, as the city develops, you can earn money by selling weapons and armor, but this will require another level of management and the city as a whole. Do not worry about purchasing raw materials (ore, hops, wheat, timber) - if you do not get carried away, the final product will still find a buyer and bring profit. But if you cannot supply goods in the required volume, the trade agreement will be terminated.

Even a small production is enough to start:

We do not recommend selling tools and paper, which are needed from midgame onwards. Their production requires wood, which is a resource in short supply. Assume that there will not be enough wood for everything and it should be saved for your own needs.

Each trade deal between feudal lords is taxed at 150 gold. If you are currently short of funds, but see an opportunity for a profitable deal, borrow money from allies to provide yourself with a "safety cushion" and enter into agreements. Yes, there will be a period of gold accumulation to quickly pay off the loan, but later the trade routes will pay off handsomely.

The most important thing is to check the "trade automatically" box on the trade panel before making a trade deal, otherwise the goods will not be shipped every day.

Keep in mind that as your city develops, the game itself will terminate trade agreements so that there will be someone to buy more expensive goods from you, such as paper, weapons and armor. If you feel that you are not ready to move on, do not build the corresponding buildings.

Where can I get sacred rings?

Sacred Rings are a valuable resource that Lords use as luxury items. The player can use them through the King to reward those who have distinguished themselves and to improve their mood. Rings usually accumulate in the Lords' inventory and become a status symbol. Sometimes they are required to complete certain missions. Gambling Lords can lose or win them in games with other Lords, both local and foreign (this does not count as a gift). There are several ways to obtain Sacred Rings:

Buy from the Merchant for full price. One ring costs as much as a dozen bags of flour or several good swords, making it one of the most expensive goods. It is a legal, "white" product, the possession of which will not raise questions from anyone in the area.

Buy from bandits on the black market. Periodically, a camp with bandits appears at each location, raiding the surrounding area. Sometimes they have sacred rings in their loot, which they then sell to those who are not squeamish, about which a notification comes to the global map. Keep in mind that this is stolen / taken from the dead goods, the possession of which will spoil relations with neighboring lords.

Take by force from other lords . You can seize rings as part of a raid or subjugation of another faction, capturing their city and robbing the local nobles. Or even take them from the corpses of slain enemies.

Receive as a reward. Very rarely, rings can be received as a reward for completing certain tasks or missions. Such tasks will be of increased difficulty and will require high readiness.

Effective financial management is the key to success in Norland. Use trade opportunities, develop production , and do not forget about external sources of income, such as loans, tribute, and contracts. Having accumulated enough gold and sacred rings, you will be able to expand your influence, strengthen your power and develop the economy.
