Genshin Impact - How to Fix Slow Loading Speed

Potential Genshin Impact players are experiencing slow loading times, but there is a simple solution that will allow players to jump straight into the game faster.

Many players are very excited about Genshin Impact, and for good reason. Even though the game is free, it seems to offer a lot of what gamers love right now, including an open world to explore and a voice-controlled story. Unfortunately, many people cannot experience all these wonderful things due to the horribly slow download speeds.

Before playing the game, potential Genshin Impact players need to download the game first. It doesn't sound like it should be that hard, but some players take an incredibly long time to just load a 15Gb game.

This is obviously a big problem, but fortunately some players have found an easy way to fix this problem. For those with less than 1Mb / sec download times, simply pausing and restarting the download may be a necessary fix. Some of those already playing Genshin Impact reported that this fixed the issue and made overall load times more manageable.

In the launcher, players simply need to pause and resume the download a few times, remembering that this may not work the first time. Some players have reported that this reduced their download speed at first, but repeated attempts eventually resulted in an increase in speed. Most accounts claim that download speeds were still slow (less than 10MB / s, say), but the game size is small compared to things like Call of Duty: Warzone's massive updates. For those players who have tried this, there are other options that can help speed up loading times.

Along the same lines, completely closing the launcher and reopening it seems to give positive results for some, and even if that doesn't work, players may simply need to uninstall the app and start over. It is currently unclear what is causing such horrible download speeds, but it is most likely something on the server side given how many people are experiencing problems. With any luck, the Mihoyo developers will soon be fixing this issue so that players don't have to jump through hoops to play her game, but the developer hasn't made any comments on this issue yet.

Aside from these things, players should make sure they have a reliable internet connection and, if possible, use an Ethernet cable for a wired connection. This issue is most likely due to too many people trying to download it all at once, so in the worst case, the server load should decrease within a few days, finally giving players the opportunity to experience the story and gameplay in Genshin Impact.
