In total, 35 underground caches are hidden throughout New York.
The underground caches are really important as collecting them gives you technical details that you use to upgrade your outfit and unlock mods.
Every borough of New York has several of them, so we'll take a closer look at all of them.
Tracking the location of the cache
Finding an underground cache is very simple.
All you have to do is mark its location on the map in advance, and when you are in the area, simply scan and you will get a small compass on your Hud that will point you to its location.
Some underground caches will be hidden behind soft / brittle walls, or you need to pull a lever or two.
Financial district
There are 4 underground caches in the Financial District.
Underground cache number 1
The first is near FDR Drive, near the harbor. Follow the compass around the building and you should see a Cache in the corner of the small harbor.
Underground cache number 2
The second cache is located near the Brooklyn Bridge. To get this cache, mark it, scan it and find its location. You will reach a container with a dungeon symbol.
Open it and follow the tunnel until you reach the cache.
Underground cache number 3
The third cache is located on the roof of a building near Battery Park on West Street. Go up to the roof and break the box with the dungeon symbol. The cache is inside the box.
Underground cache number 4
The fourth cache is located on the roof of the building near Greenwich and Hubert Street. Located under the roof stairs. You must move the trash can to retrieve the cache.
Greenwich
There are 3 underground caches in the area.
Underground stash # 1
The first cache is located near W. Houston St. Get to the location and enter the garage under the building. Break the crates on your way and you can see the Cache in the fenced area.
Underground cache number 2
The second cache is located near Washington Square Park. It's at a gas station.
Go to the gas station garage and braid the gears to find the Cache.
Underground cache number 3
The third cache is located just off 4th Avenue. Go to the roof of the tall building and find a cage with a net. Open the cage to get the Secret Stash.
Chinatown
There are 3 underground caches in the Chinese city and one in the Roxxon laboratory.
Underground Cache No. 1
The First Secret is located in the lower part of China City, inside a white tent near a brick building. Go to the tent to find the Cache.
Underground Cache No. 2
The second Cache in Chinatown is located in a multi-story garage. Go to the third level of the garage to find the Cache.
Underground cache number 3
The third cache is on the right side of Chinatown, on the roof of the H-shaped building. This cache is located inside a box marked underground.
Midtown
There are 5 underground caches in Midtown, including the one you collect during the story mission.
Underground cache number 1
The first is on the balcony of a building overlooking the Empire State Building. The cache is located at the edge of the balcony.
Underground Secret # 2
The Second Secret is located on the roof of the glass building. Look closely to find a thin area near the roof, and there is a cache.
Underground cache number 3
The third cache is also on the roof. This one is in the dead center of the roof, under a small tarp.
Underground cache number 4
The fourth cache is located next to the scaffolding. Get there and find a small platform that you can lower to access the construction area. Once inside, turn left to find the Cache.
Underground Stash # 5
This is the stash you got in the story mission, so you can't miss it.
Hell's Kitchen
There are 4 underground caches in Hell's Kitchen. 1 of these can be found in the Roxxon lab.
Underground cache number 1
The first is located near the river, next to the pier. Look for a crane; The cache is placed next to the crane.
Underground stash # 2
This cache is located inside a half-built room. You can get to this room by climbing onto the roof of the building to which the crane is attached. There is a small room on the roof that leads to this Cache.
Underground Stash # 3
This cache is located in the Fisk Tower. Go inside and find the revolving door. The cache is located right in front of the door.
Upper West Side
There are 3 underground caches in the Upper West Side area. One of these caches is located inside the underground shelter.
Underground Cache No. 1
The first Secret is located on the roof of a rectangular building. It is very easy to find it. You can find it next to the plywood.
Underground stash # 2
This stash is at the top of a rather small building with a white roof top tent. The cache is inside the roof.
Central park
There are 2 underground caches in Central Park.
Underground cache number 1
The first one is located in the center of the park, by the fountain. Punch through the cracked wall near the fountain to go inside and collect the Cache.
Underground cache number 2
The second cache is at the top edge of Central Park, inside the fort, which is very easy to find.
Upper East Side
There are 5 underground caches in the Upper East Side area. One of them is in the underground shelter.
Underground cache number 1
Look for the old building at the bottom of the Upper East Side. The cache is on the roof of this building.
Underground cache number 2
Go to the U-shaped building on the left side of the block and look for a tarp. After reaching the courtyard of this building, lower the platform near the construction site. This Cache is under a tarp.
Underground Stash # 3
This cache is located in the courtyard near the fountain. Just break the plywood wall to go inside and collect the Cache.
Underground Stash # 4
To do this, you need to find a gas station and open its left side. You have to defeat a tank that will fly out. The fastest way to do this is to remove the tower from the top. Now go inside and open the Cash.
Harlem
Harlem has 3 underground caches.
Underground cache number 1
The first one is in the dock area, behind crates next to shipping containers. Break the boxes to find the Cache.
Underground cache number 2
The second cache is located at a gas station at the top of Harlem and can be picked up when you mess up the gears inside the garage.
Underground Stash # 3
The latter is located in the construction zone and requires you to tear off the door to pick up the cache.
Roxxon laboratory
There are underground caches in 3 Roxxon laboratories.
Southern laboratory
When you scan, you will see the Cache is behind a red door. You must charge the generator and connect it to the pylon next to the door to pick up this cache.
Oriental laboratory
Once you land in the lab, work your way through the thin ventilation grill above the door to go inside and open the cache.
Western laboratory
Once inside the lab, enter the second set of vents and keep walking until you see a thin vent leading into the combat area. Do not use this hole. Instead, look under this hole to find a larger hole that opens up in the room that contains the Cache.
Underground shelter
You can also find 3 underground caches inside underground shelters.
Greenwich
You need to go down to the base and lower the platform in the corner to get to the Cache.
Upper East Side
Kill the enemies and then break the plywood wall to go inside. Then move the trash can to the side to access the cache.
Upper West Side
There is a room with a generator inside the shelter. There is a fragile wall in this room that you need to break down to find the Cache.
These are all known underground stash locations, but you must keep scanning even during the story missions.
