NBA 2K21 on Xbox Series X, weighs over 120GB

NBA 2K21

2K's next-gen NBA release, NBA 2K21 will be pretty big for Microsoft's upcoming Xbox Series X.

Since storage is limited on next-gen consoles and the external storage required isn't cheap, gamers will want to see compact file sizes for next-gen games. While Ubisoft seemingly managed to reduce the Assassin's Creed Valhalla file size to the level of the current generation, 2K clearly didn't, as NBA 2K21 weighs in at a whopping 121.7GB on Xbox Series X.

The file size was revealed after a Reddit user posted a screenshot of the game's details on the Xbox Store. Of course, we're probably looking at a preview of the game, and there is a chance 2K will release an update to reduce the size of the game.

Hopefully, with the Xbox Series S only having 364GB of available game space, games will be more compact. Microsoft previously stated that Series S games could be about 30% smaller to save precious storage.

"When you look at the size of a typical game package, the largest percentage of content installed in local storage is actually texture data. So thus targeting 1440p, which allows developers not to ship their highest MIP levels, which are the largest. assets, "said Jason Ronald, Xbox's director of program management.

NBA 2K21 is available for PS4, Xbox One and PC. The next generation versions of the game will be available after the launch of the Xbox Series X / S and PlayStation 5.
