To successfully complete The Medium , you must complete the following quests towards the end of the game: "Under the red house." And "Discover the secrets of Thomas' home."
Since this section contains a somewhat longer puzzle that could prove to be quite tricky for some, we have prepared the complete solution for the "Red House" for you here.
The 3 masks of emotions
To solve the riddle in Thomas's burned down home, you have to put a mask on each of the three dolls . The ultimate goal is to find the following three masks:
- Mask of amazement
- Mask of silence
- Mask of joy
How do I get the masks? First of all, you enter the house and rattle around in the real world. You can't open the dollhouse yet, but you can see and examine everything else. You will notice the fireplace, above which you can place 3 pictures . You have to find these pictures to get all 3 masks.
In addition, you can only get to all the masks if you solve the puzzle with the butterflies . So it's a very tricky puzzle. But one after the other!
Find all 3 pictures and arrange them correctly!
The first picture for the fireplace can be found right next to the burned down fireplace . Collect it, it is the wedding photo . The second photo is near the doll's house (to the right of the doll's house) by the red flowers . It is the family photo with wife and daughter .
The third photo, the family photo with two daughters , is right next to the mirror. Now you have all the photos together, but no idea how they should be arranged over the fireplace.
Therefore you now go into the spirit world , so off through the mirror! Here you can see the other side of the house and thus another fireplace.
But before you look at the fireplace, you can cut up the skin sack in the spirit world and receive the first butterfly, the red butterfly .
The symbolism by the fireplace now shows you how to place the photos. So come back and put them up in this order (see picture):
Find the 4 butterflies and use them according to the colors!
You have just received the first butterfly in the spirit world, so it now continues with butterfly two to four.
Important : The doll's house only opens when you enter the normal world for the first time, i.e. when you have been here in the spirit world. Then first place the toy mirror on the left-hand side upstairs and enter the spirit world again.
In the new room in the left half of the house you can cut up a skin bag and find the blue butterfly .
Also take the toy fish with you, which is on the left. You'll need it in a minute.
Before you leave the room, you can collect the 2nd mask (see Find 3 masks). In addition, you have to cut up a worn skin wall in the right corner. So pull out your razor once more and give it your all! The tea party with the devil is revealed.
Leave the room and move the toy mirror to the right corner of the dollhouse. Then you enter the right side of the upper floor . Here you first have to place the toy fish over the skin bag on the left . And voilà, the white butterfly emerges !
In the far end of the room you cut up the last sack of meat and collect the yellow butterfly . You now have all four butterflies.
Find all 3 masks and put them on the dolls!
You can pick up the first mask in this room by correctly arranging the box with the butterflies on the right side . Although there is a small hint about the colors red and yellow in the entrance area of the house, the trick here is that you have to pay close attention to the shape of the butterflies . They fit exactly into the recess.
So arrange them as follows and get the first mask, the mask of wonder:
The second mask is in the bed on the left side of the upper floor . Take a closer look at the pillow, then Marianne pushes it aside and the mask of silence appears.
The third mask can be found on the ground floor of the house in the spirit world after you have correctly arranged all 3 images above the fireplace . The ice then disappears in the chimney of the spirit world and you can pull out the mask of joy . If you followed the guide, you already have it!
Dissolve tea party with the devil...
After you have all three masks, go back to the upper left floor. Here you have previously exposed the three dolls. Now all that remains is to put the masks on the right dolls and then the tea party with the devil can start!
The correct order is (from left to right): mask of joy, mask of silence, mask of wonder
But beware! When you have solved the riddle and put in all the masks, you have to be careful of the moths that can kill you at this point. So immediately run to the mirror and take refuge in the normal world. Then you can finally enter the basement of the red house !
