Dying Light 2 Developer Techland Rumored To Again Target Microsoft Acquisition

In late 2019, rumors surfaced that Microsoft wanted to acquire Polish studio Techland , which intensified in early 2020 when the problematic development of Dying Light 2 became known . However, Techland then denied the rumors, saying: “ We remain independent. We are not negotiating with anyone about a possible acquisition . "

In the time since rumors first surfaced, Microsoft has stepped up its search for new studios, buying Zenimax Media's assets for a whopping $ 7 billion , and is now back to talking about buying Techland . In a recent episode of the Defining Duke podcast, insider Jeremy Penter, aka ACG, noted that Microsoft is trying to grab the top 2021 exclusive by buying the game's developer / publisher. He did not go into details, but today Nick Baker, aka Shpeshal Ed, stated that ACG was most likely talking about Techland.

While Baker has no exact details, he has previously provided accurate information on Microsoft's new project Perfect Dark, Gearbox being acquired by the Embracer Group, and more.

Dying Light 2 has been announced for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, PS4 and PS5. The game does not currently have a release date.
