Samsung confirms PS5 firmware update fix

Since the release of the PlayStation 5, many gamers have faced compatibility issues between the PS5 and their Samsung TVs . Due to compatibility issues , 4K games used in combination with 120Hz and HDR did not display properly.

According to a support post on Samsung's official support forum, the compatibility issue cannot be resolved with a TV software update. Instead, Sony must patch the PS5 software.

In a support note on the official Samsung forum, a Samsung employee confirmed that the specified PS5 firmware update will be released in March 2021 . The Samsung support note said:

“The bug has been localized and Sony is expected to release an update in March that will enable HDR 4K 120Hz. Please update your Playstation to the latest software. The TV does not require a software update (but we recommend that you always update the software for stability and security reasons). The TV also doesn't need to be repaired, so you don't need to contact support. "

In the meantime, affected gamers are advised to either reduce the output frequency to 60Hz or disable HDR until the expected PS5 firmware update is released.
