Satisfactory Guide - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

A detailed guide to Satisfactory, which is useful for both beginners and experienced players

It has been two years since the release of Satisfactory , but many players still face some issues while exploring the world or building a base. The game is so complex that it is extremely difficult to understand it. But after studying this guide, gamers will have answers to the most frequently asked questions that will help them better understand how to play Satisfactory.

How to play Satisfactory?

Satisfactory is considered an analogue of Factorio and Dyson Sphere Program, in which the main task is to automate its own base for the production of various resources. In this first-person open-world game, players need to engage in not only building factories, but also exploring territories and fighting local fauna.

We go down to the planet and perform the first tasks. Do not forget to use the transport hub to send resources in the capsule to open the next levels of base development. With each such improvement, the player will have access to even more different mechanisms and devices for automating his plant for extracting resources from the bowels of the planet.

First of all, it is recommended to stock up on a small amount of fossils and try to automate the initial structures to obtain the necessary resources for the development of the base. We focus on fast pumping of the HUB, which will open up even more opportunities for plant expansion. For other helpful tips to help solve most of your initial problems.

How to get production going at Satisfactory?

Automation of production is achieved through the correct connection of buildings, which allows you to achieve optimal resource extraction without downtime or delays. Do not forget to increase the power of devices when there is a lack of resources obtained by using energy modules that can be produced from energy slugs. Otherwise, when the factory is idle, it is recommended to reduce the capacity of the buildings to achieve the best result. To do this, calculate the amount of resources to obtain the necessary items for the further development of the base.

Let's consider in more detail the basic production option using the example of obtaining iron plates:

  1. We establish a mine on the iron deposit.
  2. We connect it to the smelter using a conveyor belt to enable the process of obtaining iron ingots.
  3. We connect the smelter to the constructor in the same way and select the production of iron plates.
  4. We connect the storage container with the constructor so that all the resources received are placed in a special storage space.

For a simplified calculation of the required buildings to obtain a certain resource, you can use the production calculator by following the link.

How do I build generators?

There are 5 types of generators in the game, each of which is responsible for generating energy: biomass burner, coal generator, fuel generator, geothermal generator and nuclear power plant. Most generators can be overclocked using energy modules that can be obtained from energy slugs.

Biomass burner

This energy generator is used in the early stages of planetary exploration. As fuel, it can use absolutely any organic matter that the player can find at the location. Since the device has no entry ports, the player must always manually load fuel.

You can get access at level 0 after studying the HUB 6 upgrade. The device generates 30 MW of electricity.

Required materials for creation:

  • Iron plate (15 pieces);
  • Iron rod (15 pieces);
  • Wire (25 pieces).

Coal generator

Generates energy by using coal and water. Allows you to automate energy production. Consumes 15 units of coal and 45 cubic meters of water per minute. To connect the water, you will need to build and connect a water pump that produces 120 cubic meters of water per minute.

When designing a basic coal-fired power plant, it is recommended to use two pumps initially. We connect them to the tank and remove pipes from it for 5 generators. This is more than enough for first base. If the power plant is being built at sea level, then it is enough to connect all the buildings as indicated above. Otherwise, it is necessary to install additional pumps on the pipes for every 20 meters in height.

You can gain access at level 3 after researching coal energy. The device generates 75 MW.

Required materials for creation:

  • Reinforced iron plate (20 pieces);
  • Rotor (10 pieces);
  • Cable (30 pieces).

Fuel generator

It allows you to extract energy from liquid fuels and has the ability to automate food processes. Uses fuel, biofuel and turbo fuel.

You can gain access at level 6 after researching the expanded energy infrastructure. The device generates 150 MW.

Required materials for creation:

  • Computer (5 pieces);
  • Heavy modular frame (10 pieces);
  • Motor (15 pieces);
  • Rubber (50 pieces);
  • Super wire (50 pieces).

Geothermal generator

It uses the heat of operating geysers to generate energy. Does not use additional fuel to generate energy. At the moment it cannot be overclocked, so it is worth waiting for a fix in the next updates. One of the advantages of this type of generator is stable operation without reducing the amount of generated current. They are installed only on geysers and have the main priority in the operation of the base, therefore they are most useful in the operation of the main system:

First, all geothermal generators are activated, and only then are other generators using fuel.

Otherwise, when geothermal reactors can cope with the total load, other energy sources are not put into operation.

It can be accessed at the MMA (Molecular Analysis Machine) level after examining cateria, an unexplored metal that is found after scanning the planet for gold deposits. The device generates 200 MW. At the moment there are only 17 geysers in the location.

Required materials for creation:

  • Supercomputer (8 pieces);
  • Heavy modular frame (16 pieces);
  • Speed connector (16 pieces);
  • Copper sheet (40 pieces);
  • Rubber (80 pieces).

Nuclear power plant

For energy production, nuclear fuel rods and water are used. It also has the ability to automate a power plant, but leaves behind radioactive nuclear waste after work.

You can gain access at level 7 after studying nuclear energy. The device generates 2500 MW.

Required materials for creation:

  • Supercomputer (5 pieces);
  • Heavy modular frame (10 pieces);
  • Concrete (150 pieces);
  • Cable (50 pieces);
  • High speed connector (15 pieces).

How do you build factories?

In addition to exploring the world and exploring new levels of development, the player needs to build the right factories with optimal resource production. That is why the player needs to use certain functions of the game in order to achieve the best results at his base in the organization of production.

Use the CTRL key first when constructing buildings. This button will allow you to place various objects on the grid, and the game will try to suggest the best options for placing buildings. This will help make the plant not only beautiful, but also useful. Ideally located nearby buildings are much more efficient in coping with the tasks.

Also, do not forget about the foundations that allow you to build a base at any height. Several foundations, placed in one plane, organize a perfectly flat surface. In addition, after exploring the nearest territory and studying new levels of development, even more minerals will become available to the player. Many of the necessary resources will be located at very long distances, so it will be much more convenient to place your plant at a height, equip it in any desired place and not take into account the features of the relief. In this case, each building will automatically snap to the floor grid, so you no longer need to hold down the "CTRL" button when erecting buildings.

In the later stages of the development of the base, the foundations and walls will become an integral part of the player's base, with which you can build it not only in length, but also in height. Such a free organization of the production process allows you to optimize the extraction of minerals and the creation of items necessary for development in the best way.

How to get resources in Satisfactory?

The construction of the plant will not be able to do without the extraction of resources and proper smelting. This component of the gameplay is the most important part of the game, since in the absence of certain resources, the player will not be able to create buildings that will allow him to obtain the necessary items for the development of the base.

All minerals can be obtained from special deposits, but at first the player needs to manually collect wood and leaves. These biodegradable resources are needed to run the biomass burner, which can generate the necessary amount of electricity to power the first buildings in the base. In the first hours of the game, you need to collect as much iron ore and leaves as possible. As the base develops, other structures will become available to the player, which will not waste time collecting initial resources.

First of all, when working with resources, it is recommended to install drilling rigs on mineral deposits. We do not forget to connect them to other processing devices, as well as to bring the final products into storage containers. This will allow accumulating large reserves of resources in a short time. The more such drilling rigs the player can place on the deposits, the more items can be produced at the same time. For the organization of the branches of this in the game, there are special structures that allow you to run the conveyor belt along several paths.

What drills do you need to build?

Below are all types of buildings for mining and the conditions for their construction.

  • Copper sheet (20 units);
  • Reinforced iron plate (10 units);
  • Rotor (10 units).

What types of ore are there / how to mine ore?

Below are all the current types of solid minerals in the game, most of which are mined by hand or using any drill.

  • Iron ore. Discovered by a resource scanner when landing on a planet. The player just needs to leave the lander to find the first deposit.
  • Copper ore . Discovered by the resource scanner at level 0 after upgrading the HUB 1.
  • Limestone. The third base component for crafting items after iron and copper ore. Discovered by the resource scanner at level 0 after upgrading the HUB 2.
  • Coal. It is used for the manufacture of many items, but is most needed for use in coal-fired generators and vehicles. Discovered by the resource scanner at level 3 after researching coal energy.
  • Caterium ore. It is used most often for the production of advanced electronics. Discovered by the Resource Scanner at Level 6 after completing the Advanced Energy Infrastructure Phase.
  • Raw quartz. Used in the production of coated uranium cells. Discovered by the Resource Scanner at Level 7 after completing Bauxite Processing.
  • Bauxite. Also, like raw quartz, it is used in the production of coated uranium cells. Discovered by the Resource Scanner at Level 7 after completing Bauxite Processing.
  • Sulfur. Used for the production of uranium pellets. Discovered by the Resource Scanner at Level 7 after completing the Nuclear Power Stage.
  • Silicon. Despite the fact that silicon belongs to the category of ore, it is mined artificially. Required for the production of uranium cells. Required resources: Raw quartz (4 units) and limestone (2 units).
  • Uranus. Used for the production of coated uranium cells. Discovered by the Resource Scanner at Level 7 after completing the Nuclear Power Stage.
  • Ruda S.I.M. Can be mined, but currently not used in the game.

What liquids are there / how to get liquids?

In most cases, liquids are needed as fuel, however, just like other resources, they are used to produce various items.

  • Water. It is extracted with a water pump and is used as the second main fuel for a coal-fired power plant. Also required for the production of various liquids: liquid biofuel, alumina solution and sulfuric acid. Used in alternative recipes for various items.
  • Raw oil. It is produced with an oil pump and is used as fuel for a fuel generator and for the production of various items, as well as fuel oil.
  • Fuel oil. It is used as a by-product for the production of plastics and rubber and is processed into fuel and petroleum coke.
  • Liquid biofuel. Another resource for energy production. Much more efficient than solid biofuels.
  • Fuel. It is used for refueling vehicles, processing into turbo fuel and making rubber and plastic.
  • Turbo fuel. A more efficient resource than fuel.
  • Alumina solution. Used to create scrap aluminum.
  • Sulphuric acid. Required for the production of uranium pellets used in nuclear power plants.

How do I enter console commands and codes?

There are no cheats in Satisfactory, so you can use several console commands to tweak some game parameters. To use console commands in the game, you must load the save and use the key combination "CTRL + SHIFT + L" once. This combination can be case sensitive. After performing this operation, the player will be able to open the developer console using the tilde key, "~".

To change the developer mode activation combination, you must follow the path:

% LOCALAPPDATA% \ FactoryGame \ Saved \ Config \ WindowsNoEditor

Open the file input.ini and add the following lines to the end of the document:

[/script/engine.inputsettings]

ConsoleKey = F6

Instead of F6, you can enter any convenient key, except for those used in the game. To open a list of all commands, you need to enter "?" without pressing the "ENTER" key. There are over 2000 teams in the game, which are divided into three colors:

  1. Green teams. Executed under the guise of being used by a public user, with the ability to change parameters.
  2. Purple teams. Executed under the guise of being used by the administrator, with the ability to change the parameters and use in a multiplayer game.
  3. Gray teams. Cannot be used (Fly, Ghost, GiveItem, Cheats, Teleport).

All parameters that change the speed are set to "1" by default.

  • / c game.local_player.force.manual_mining_speed_modifier = number (changes the speed of resource extraction);
  • / c game.local_player.force.manual_crafting_speed_modifier = number (changes the speed of crafting items and buildings);
  • / c game.local_player.force.laboratory_speed_modifier = number (changes the speed of research in the HUB);
  • / c game.local_player.force.research_all_technologies () (immediately ends all current research);
  • / c game.local_player.zoom = 0.number (zooms out the first person camera of the character);
  • / c game.local_player.insert {name = 'item name with quotation marks', count = amount} (adds item to player's inventory);
  • / c game.always_day = true (permanently disables day / night change);
  • / c game.speed = number (changes the speed of the game, which affects not only the operation of buildings, but also the movement of the character).

How to use the space elevator?

One of the main goals of Satisfactory is to maintain the space elevator to further develop the base. The player must build this mechanism with which he can be engaged in sending resources to complete the various stages of the planet's exploration. After each delivery of resources, the player will open up new levels to improve the base. All items sent via the space elevator are non-refundable. Only one such structure can be built, but later it can be destroyed and transferred to any convenient place without any loss in the development of the base. Building the space elevator will automatically unlock the third level of research, which allows you to go to the study of the coal industry.

Description of the work of the space elevator:

  1. After sending the resources, the space elevator will rise to the sky for a while, and then descend back.
  2. You can interact with the device from any side.
  3. The delivery mechanism of the space elevator does not have a physical model, so the player will not be able to walk on it when building a base at a high altitude.

Required resources to build a space elevator:

  • Concrete (500 units);
  • Iron plate (250 units);
  • Iron rod (400 units);
  • Wire (1500 units).

How to build a train?

We use several electric locomotives or freight cars to combine into a train. Once connected, all vehicles will move together. We adjust the cars close to each other for automatic coupling. Before construction, it is worth considering that any upgrades and changes can be made only with the first and last carriages without the possibility of interference in the middle of the train. For manual control it is enough to get into any electric locomotive. Each train has its own name, so the schedule is applied at the station for all cars at once.

It is recommended to design the train so that it can move in both directions. In this case, it will be possible to optimize the time spent by the vehicle on the road and will not have to complete the turning loops. To accomplish this task, it is necessary to install electric locomotives along the edges, directed in different directions. In any other variation, the train will only move in one direction.

One electric locomotive is capable of dragging dozens of wagons behind it, but in this case the rails must be at the same height. Even the smallest tilt angle will dampen the entire train speed. The optimal solution is to install one electric locomotive for every four freight cars, and it does not matter which direction they are directed in the middle of the train, since the entire locomotive will receive the required power anyway. The train cannot derail when approaching the end of the road at high speed. Instead, it will stop abruptly in front of a cliff. The workload of a train does not affect its technical characteristics in any way. It is worth considering that any changes to the locomotive will lead to the appearance of a new train, so you will have to go to the train station again to set a new name and schedule.

Helpful information:

  1. The minimum length of an independent railway section is 12 meters or 1.5 foundations.
  2. The maximum length of an independent railway section is 100 meters or 12.5 foundations.
  3. The minimum turning radius of the railway is 17 meters, so a 180 degree turn in the opposite direction cannot be designed without a full loop.
  4. It is recommended to place the train station before the construction of the railroad, otherwise the station may be built on top of the railroad tracks and will not connect to them.
  5. Sometimes during the construction of a railway branch, a railway switch is not created. In this case, the transfer hub will not work correctly, so the train may get stuck on the track or stop moving on autopilot altogether. It is recommended that this section of the railroad be rebuilt and that a railroad switch is provided at each such section.
  6. Sometimes a visual error can occur, in which the train on autopilot teleports to a nearby railway junction and returns. Do not pay attention to this, as this will not affect the functionality in any way.
  7. Avoid placing the rail switch too close to a two-way station. In this case, an error may occur, in which the train will move on the wrong track, resulting in a stuck locomotive.
  8. At the moment, the rails do not have hitboxes, so it is possible to design the railroad so that the rails pass through natural obstacles.

How to create a tractor?

A tractor refers to a wheeled vehicle that can be steered manually or operated with an autopilot. The vehicle has a built-in workbench and 25-slot inventory. Fuel of any kind is used for movement. To activate the autopilot, the player needs to call the control menu by holding down the "V" key while in the transport. We use the button "Start recording" and exit the menu. We operate the tractor in manual mode and go through the entire route on our own. At the end point, open the menu again and select "End recording". We turn on the autopilot and leave the vehicle.

The tractor will now drive along the specified route with all stops. If you get into the car on the move, the autopilot mode will automatically turn off until the player leaves the car. It should be noted that the vehicle cannot move backwards on autopilot, therefore, when recording a route for autopilot, avoid using reverse gear. Also, if there is any obstacle on the way of the car, it will try to return back to the laid path until the fuel runs out. To refuel vehicles on the route, you must use a freight station.

You can get access at level 3 after researching road transport.

Required resources:

  • Modular frame (5 units);
  • Rotor (10 units);
  • Radio beacon (5 units).
