There are many PS4 titles that can already be enjoyed with playable improvements and new features (such as the haptic functions of the DualSense). This is the case of exclusives such as God of War , or multiplatform games such as FIFA 21, Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War or Assassin's Creed Valhalla , among many others.

Sometimes the developers release an improved version of their games, which we can also get for free on PS5 if we already had them. For example, The Sinking City Enhanced or Terminator Resistance Enhanced are free for those who already have them on PS4, although there are cases where they are not, such as Control Ultimate Edition.

But ... don't you miss a lot of other PS4 games? Well, we are going to show you which are the PS4 games that urgently need the update patch to PS5; some of them have already announced a next-gen version on the way, like Final Fantasy VII Remake.

BLOODBORNE

From Software's fantastic action RPG is one of the jewels of the PS4 catalog, and we would love to be able to enjoy its combat at 60 FPS and 4K resolution. At the moment there is no confirmed patch, although it is rumored that Bloodborne will come out on PS5 with an improved version, at the same time as on PC . After the announcement of Days Gone on compatible, other PlayStation exclusives were expected to see the light of day on PC... and this RPG could be one of them. 

DRIVECLUB

While the DriveClub servers have been shut down, it would be quite a show to revive this racing game at full resolution and frames on PS5. It is one of the most graphically powerful titles in the PS4 catalog .

At the moment it is only possible to play it at 1080p and 30 FPS, and it must be remembered that it is no longer available in the PS Store for purchase, although it is backwards compatible with PlayStation 5. Any fan of the driving genre would love to drive at 4K and 60 FPS on the new Sony console, although that seems unlikely to happen.

THE LAST OF US PART II

One of the best PS4 games must have its next gen patch on PS5. It seems certain that The Last of Us 2 will have its own version for the new Sony console, although at the moment it is not confirmed, beyond the rumors around Naughty Dog.

This sequel to The Last of Us can be played in 4K on PS4 Pro and PS5, albeit limited to 30 FPS , so we hope we can relive Ellie's revenge at the best picture quality and performance with the next next gen version.

CONCRETE GENIE

This great PS4 exclusive was one of the free PS Plus games for the month of February, although there is currently no next gen patch on PS5 . Concrete Genie suffers from limitations if we run it at 4K resolution, since the performance drops to 30 FPS and the HDR is missing.

Its creators have already said that they will add HDR in an update, but not as part of a patch for PS5 that does not seem to be a reality... at least for now.

HORIZON ZERO DAWN

This spectacular title from Guerrilla Games is one of the most powerful in the PS4 catalog, and for now we can play it in 4K resolution with HDR ... although limited to 30 FPS.

After launching on PC, Horizon Zero Dawn has shown that it has room for improvement on Sony's console (performance at 60 FPS), but its creators are working on Horizon II Forbidden West and it seems that improving the first title is not in their plans. .

GRAVITY RUSH 2

One of the great gems of the PS4 catalog, which unfortunately went unnoticed at its launch. Gravity Rush 2 is the work of Keiichiro Toyama and Japan Studio (which has recently been reorganized into Team Asobi), and it would be a dream to enjoy its frenetic combat and development at 60 FPS.

For now, this PS4 exclusive can be played at 4K resolution and 30 FPS on PS4 Pro and PS5 , but we are missing a next gen patch that will improve the experience even more.

RATCHET & CLANK (2016)

A fantastic PS4 reboot that you can all stay with forever, as part of the Play at Home event for PS5 and PS4 . Also, don't forget that this is a wonderful aperitif before the launch of the new Ratchet & Clank A Dimension Apart.

So we asked Insomniac Games to release a next gen patch for Ratchet & Clank (2016) . The maximum resolution and performance that we can achieve with this title is 1800p and 30 FPS on PS4 Pro and PS5, so there is room for improvement.

UNCHARTED 4: THE THIEF'S DISENGAGEMENT

Another of the great colossi of PS4, along with The Last of Us 2. Since Uncharted 4 is a 2016 title, perhaps it is not unreasonable that a next gen version is released for PS5, since to date it can only be played 4K and 30 FPS on PS4 Pro and PS5 .

We think Nathan Drake's epic adventure deserves better, like 4K resolution and 60 FPS performance, so it can't be ruled out that one day we'll see a new compilation or definitive edition of Uncharted 4 A Thief's End for PlayStation 5.

WIPEOUT OMEGA COLLECTION

The frenetic and fast-paced Wipeout driving saga has left us speechless for years. Omega Collection is an incredible compilation that works at 4K and 60 FPS on PS4 Pro and PS5, excellent features that, on the other hand ... surely can be improved.

The PS5 hardware and DualSense haptic functions would suit this title wonderfully, so we didn't hesitate to ask for a patch that supports 120 FPS, for example, or even a substantial improvement to 4K resolution.

SHADOW OF THE COLOSSUS REMAKE

While Sony is still in negotiations to acquire Bluepoint Games, from here we ask for a next gen patch for one of their best games, Shadow of the Colossus (2018) for PS4.

Seeing what they have achieved with Demon's Souls Remake for PS5, it would not be much to ask that they improve the performance to the long-awaited 4K and 60 FPS. At the moment, it is possible to play this exclusive in resolution mode (4K and 30 FPS) or in performance mode (1080p and 60 FPS) , either on PS4 Pro or PS5.

FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE

The wait is over, and we can finally say that Final Fantasy 7 Remake will also be released on PS5. Not only that, but Square Enix will allow the PS4 version to be upgraded for free to Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade , although the bad news is that it does not include the Yuffle DLC for the base edition.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake for PS5 can be run in two modes: resolution (4K and 30 FPS) or performance (it will work at 60 FPS, but at a lower resolution), and will have great technical improvements for those who did not enjoy the Cloud adventure , Aeris, Tifa or Barret at the time.

13 SENTINELS: AEGIS RIM

One of the great surprises of recent years for PS4. 13 Sentinels is a very high quality JRPG, which unfortunately does not perform as well as we would like on the base PS4 models , although better performance is achieved on PS4 Pro. Since it has soared in sales and popularity, we expect 13 Sentinels to have a next gen version for PS5 that is more stable and runs at native 4K resolution and 60 FPS.

DREAMS

Quite a video game dream on PS4 and PS5. Dreams allows us to create all kinds of worlds that go beyond our imagination, although it is no secret that its 60 FPS on PS4 Pro drops considerably at certain times.

This is logical, given the amount of elements that may be on the screen, but we would find it a joy to be able to enjoy Dreams at 4K and 60 FPS on PS5, at least in the rest of the modes beyond Story Mode . At the moment nothing is known about a hypothetical version for PS5.

GRAN TURISMO SPORT

Polyphony Digital is hard at work on Gran Turismo 7 for PS5, although it will finally be out next year. Therefore, it seems unlikely that a next gen patch will be released for Gran Turismo Sport , the multiplayer installment for PS4.

It must be said that it is allowed to play at 4K and 30 FPS on PS4 Pro and PS5 via backward compatibility, while the performance mode offers a rate of 60 FPS, although at 1080p resolution. As we said, it seems unlikely that a patch for Gran Turismo Sport will be released, since its creators will focus on Gran Turismo 7.

TEARAWAY UNFOLDED

This fun PS4 platformer is an enhanced port of one of the best PS Vita games, from the creators of Little Big Planet and Sackboy A Big Adventure for PS5 and PS4.

Given the team's experience with the PS4 and PS5 exclusive, it seems to us that Tearaway Unfolded could run at 4K and 60 FPS on Sony's new console. So far, you can enjoy this title at 1080p and 60 FPS on the Pro model of PS4 and PS5 , although we miss a resolution mode ... in addition, of course, the mentioned patch for PlayStation 5.
