Stronghold: Warlords general guide - how to capture the Crane, Tiger, Boar, Buffalo, Mouse, Dragon, Horse and Turtle

In almost all game modes in the game Stronghold: Warlords , on the battlefields you will meet the castles of the warlords. Such castles can and should be captured in order to increase influence and expand the boundaries of your settlement. Since initially the military leaders do not belong to anyone, you can persuade this or that military leader to obey by force or through diplomacy. In this guide, we'll go into more detail about the mechanics of capturing and managing warlords in Stronghold: Warlords.

Stronghold: Warlords offers to fight not only the main enemy, but also various commanders, whose castles are scattered across the global map. Initially, such castles are guarded by one or more groups of soldiers, as well as by the commander himself. After a forceful or diplomatic capture of such a castle, once every few minutes you can demand from your subordinate the supply of food, resources, soldiers, or order to send troops to the desired area.

In total, there are 8 different types of commanders in the game. After subjugating any of them, you will need to spend diplomacy points to sign the corresponding letter .

How to earn diplomacy points in Stronghold: Warlords

From the start, you will receive 1 diplomacy point every day. This indicator can be increased significantly if you build the following buildings:

  • Consulate ;
  • Embassy .

For the construction of each building of the consulate, 200 gold coins are required. You can build a maximum of four buildings in total. Each building will be worth 2 additional diplomacy points. If the building of the consulate and the citadel is united by a stone road, then this indicator will increase to 3 points.

Embassy buildings will cost you 500 gold coins for each building. You cannot install more than two similar buildings in one game. Each building constructed will be worth 5 additional diplomacy points. When combining buildings with a citadel using a stone road, this indicator will grow to 7 points.

How to Capture Warlords Using Diplomacy

Any commander can be captured not only by force, but also with diplomacy points. Depending on how a particular commander reacts to such a capture, you can do it quite quickly or after spending a lot of time. The essence of capture by diplomacy is that you need to increase your influence on the commander in the "diplomacy" section on the commander's map.

To increase the impact, open the relevant section and look at the lower right corner of the screen. Here you will see an " Automatic " button . If you press it, then your lord will begin to increase the influence on this commander automatically as he receives diplomacy points. When your diplomacy over the commander is increased to the required value, the button " Demand submission " will become active under this icon . Click it to join the general.

How to Capture Warlords Using Diplomacy

You can perform diplomatic captures of warlords even if they are already captured by your opponent. This is very convenient, since you do not need to spend gold and provisions to create an army and capture enemy fortifications. The warlord will simply kill the remaining enemy soldiers in his outpost and join your lord.

In a similar way, we managed to capture and repel all the warlords in the single player against the AI, and let's face it, it was quite exciting. With only a lot of diplomacy points at your disposal, you can literally subdue all the commanders without even leaving the castle.

How and why to level up military leaders

Some generals can level up using diplomacy points. The higher the level of the general, the more points it will take to improve it. To pump a level, just open the military leaders menu and click on the corresponding item on the right side of the screen.

How and why to level up military leaders

As the level rises, some generals gain new abilities. For example, the Tiger, upon reaching the sixth level, opens the ability "Send an attack", when the commander sends part of his army to the castle you specified on the map. Do not ignore the leveling up, as some abilities can play a decisive role in the battle.

Below we presented a complete list of commanders, their detailed descriptions and characteristics, and also provided some tips for capturing by force and using the commander's bonuses to increase your influence and develop the settlement.

Warlord Crane

  • Specialization : diplomacy / gold;
  • Strengthening : improving the quality of housing;
  • Capture by force : easy;
  • Diplomacy capture : very difficult.
The crane is a born diplomat. It is very difficult to capture this general by negotiations, therefore, at first, we recommend sending a couple of dozen soldiers to him and ordering him to kneel. This warlord can rebuild walls around his castle, send gold, or strengthen your diplomacy.

Warlord Ability List :

  • Strengthen diplomacy (30 diplomacy points);
  • Send gold (20 diplomacy points);
  • Improve the castle (40 diplomacy points);
  • Send an attack (50 diplomacy points) - the commander sends a small number of soldiers to the castle where you send them;
  • Repair the castle (40 diplomacy points).

Warlord Tiger

  • Specialization : military support;
  • Strengthening : increasing the attack power of the infantry;
  • Capture by force : difficult;
  • Seizure by Diplomacy : Difficult.
The tiger is found on only a few game maps of Stronghold: Warlords, but in single player or in battle against other players, you can set its appearance manually. As a defense, the tiger uses strong samurai, who, for sure, will repel the attack of even several dozen ordinary soldiers. To capture the Tiger by force and not lose many fighters, you need to use an army of archers. Kill the Tiger's retinue from afar and critically hit the Warlord. When he kneels, walk up and grab him.

This commander is suitable for strengthening your army, sending reinforcements to the place of battle with enemy forces, as well as for building siege war weapons in a siege camp.

Warlord Ability List :

  • Send an attack (80 diplomacy points);
  • Send an attack (200 diplomacy points) - the commander sends a reinforced detachment to the designated city;
  • Improve the castle (40 diplomacy points);
  • Build a siege camp (10 diplomacy points);
  • Repair the castle (40 diplomacy points).

Warlord Boar

  • Specialization : provisions;
  • Strengthening : a slight increase in the number of diplomacy points;
  • Grab by Force : Moderate Difficulty
  • Diplomacy Takeover: Moderate Difficulty.
Around the castle of this military leader, you can see rice, vegetable fields, as well as pig farms. This is because he can send any provisions to your settlement. Unlike some generals, as the level of the commander increases, the boar can improve and repair his castle.

The Pig's retinue includes several medium archers, so it won't be a problem to capture him. You can use both a ranged army and a large group of axemen to capture the Kabana castle. If your opponent captured this commander and improved the castle, then you will have to use siege weapons or a large group of ninjas (since only this unit can get over the castle walls).

Warlord Ability List :

  • Request supplies : Rice (20 Diplomacy Points);
  • Request Supplies : Vegetables (20 Diplomacy Points);
  • Request supplies : Meat (20 Diplomacy Points);
  • Improve the castle (40 diplomacy points);
  • Repair the castle (40 diplomacy points).

Warlord Buffalo

  • Specialization : resources;
  • Strengthening : workers produce more resources;
  • Grab by Force : Moderate Difficulty
  • Capture by Diplomacy : Quite easy.
Buffalo specializes in resource extraction. If you capture this commander, then your subjects will extract and produce more useful resources, and you can also require the commander to send minerals to your castle.

In most cases, the Buffalo is alone in the castle, with no additional protection. Therefore, if you want to capture this warlord without loss, then it is best to use a small garrison of archers. At the same time, beware of hostile detachments that may arrive in time at any time.

Warlord Ability List :

  • Request Supplies : Stone (20 Diplomacy Points);
  • Request Supplies : Wood (20 Diplomacy Points);
  • Request supplies : Iron (20 diplomacy points);
  • Improve the castle (40 diplomacy points);
  • Repair the castle (40 diplomacy points).

Warlord Mouse

  • Specialization : provisions / resources;
  • Gain : workers produce more rice;
  • Capture by force : easy;
  • Capture by Diplomacy : Easy.
Unlike other generals, the Mouse is very easy to capture in any way, but also easy to lose. After capturing this general, we advise you to immediately pump his level and improve the castle in order to ensure the safety of this commander.

Warlord Ability List :

  • Request supplies : Rice (20 Diplomacy Points);
  • Request Supplies : Wood (20 Diplomacy Points);
  • Request Supplies : Bows (20 Diplomacy Points);
  • Improve the castle (40 diplomacy points);
  • Repair the castle (40 diplomacy points).

Warlord Dragon

  • Specialization : military support;
  • Strengthening : increasing the fear factor;
  • Capture by force : very difficult;
  • Diplomacy capture : very difficult.

The dragon is perhaps the most difficult and useful warlord of all eight generals. In his retinue, the Dragon keeps flamethrowers who can deal with a large army of simple armless soldiers. To capture this general, we also recommend using a large garrison of archers, who could get rid of the general's retinue and deal critical damage to him at a distance.

If you improve the Dragon's castle, then in the future you can send his own people to the walls to defend the castle. Whoever captures this warlord first will have a great advantage on the battlefield.

Warlord Ability List :

  • Improve the castle (80 diplomacy points);
  • Request reinforcements : Fiery Lancer (100 diplomacy points);
  • Request reinforcements : Fire Ballista (100 diplomacy points);
  • Send an attack (200 diplomacy points);
  • Repair the castle (40 diplomacy points).

Warlord Horse

  • Specialization : mounted troops;
  • Strengthening : increasing the speed of the appearance of troops in the stable;
  • Grab by force : fairly easy;
  • Diplomacy Takeover: Moderate Difficulty.
The presence of this general will allow you to quickly produce cavalry troops, as well as attack your enemies and ask for reinforcements to the castle indicated on the map. Capturing a Horse by force will not be difficult, but keeping control over it is much more difficult. The fact is that this commander does not know how to strengthen the walls of the castle, so to protect him, you will have to regularly send part of your troops to the castle of this general, or leave reserve troops to guard it.

Warlord Ability List :

  • Request reinforcements : Reserve Horseman (80 diplomacy points);
  • Send an attack (150 diplomacy points);
  • Send an attack (300 diplomacy points).

Warlord Turtle

  • Specialization : defense of the castle;
  • Strengthening : increasing the strength of walls and towers;
  • Grab by force : fairly easy;
  • Diplomacy Takeover: Moderate Difficulty.
The turtle does not mine resources or provide provisions. The main goal of this commander is to deter enemy attacks, including on his own castle. If you have upgraded the commander to the maximum level, you will be able to put people on the walls and fend off enemy troops. The passive ability of the Turtle will make your walls and fortifications stronger.

Warlord Ability List :

  • Improve the castle (40 diplomacy points);
  • Place people on the walls (40 diplomacy points);
  • Repair the castle (40 diplomacy points).
