Horizon Forbidden West has neither confirmed nor denied the ability to fly. Beta stage reached

Guerrilla Games is posting a lot of information on Horizon Forbidden West following the unveiling of the State of Play gameplay . We've learned, for example, that the sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn has improved movement capabilities such as free climbing, grappling hook and glider.

In a new interview with Singapore site HardwareZone, game director Mathis De Jonge did not rule out the possibility of flying into Horizon Forbidden West. This feature of Guerrilla had to be removed from the original game due to technical issues, although the developers really liked it.

We know that this feature is very, very important on the wishlists of many players, but I cannot confirm or deny anything about this. I can only say that in the real gameplay demo that we showed.

This statement is definitely encouraging. Logic dictates that if the developers were sure of the inability to fly in Horizon Forbidden West, they would say so directly.

De Jonge also revealed that Guerrilla has already reached the beta stage of Horizon Forbidden West.

We have just successfully completed our beta release. We are now at the final stage of development. So we polish the game and fix bugs. We are also finishing some aspects of the game, for example, some cars are behind schedule because they take a huge amount of time to create. We are working on the final video. There is still a lot to be done with a game of this size and scope, but we are in the final stages.

Horizon Forbidden West will be released on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, with the latter containing all sorts of enhancements ranging from enhanced visuals to 60FPS, DualSense controller support and 3D audio support.
