Battlefield 2042: Show FPS - How it works

Battlefield 2042 is an intense game for almost every PC. Accordingly, it is all the more important to know what your performance is. We show you how you can see your FPS in Battlefield 2042.

For PC gamers in particular, the FPS (frames per second) are an important measure of how well your game is going. We introduce you to 3 methods with which you can display your FPS.

Depending on whether you own the game on Origin or Steam. If you want to display the FPS independently of Steam or Origin, we also explain a way that we do not recommend. All of these methods work regardless of whether you are using Windows 10 or Windows 11.

About Origin:

This method is only relevant for players who own Battlefield 2042 on Origin.

This is how you display your FPS:

  • In Origin, click the little arrow next to your name in the lower left corner.
  • Press on application settings.
  • In the tab above you select 'Origin in game'.
  • Select under the option "Show FPS counter" in which corner of the screen you want the FPS to be displayed.

How do I turn the FPS display off again? If you want to turn the display off, follow the same steps as above. Under the item “Show FPS counter” this time you choose the option “Don't show”.

Via Steam:

This method is only relevant for players who own Battlefield 2042 on Steam.

This is how you display your FPS:

  • In Steam click on 'Steam' in the upper left corner and then on 'Settings'.
  • Select 'In game' from the selection on the left.
  • Under the item "FPS display in the game" you select the corner of the screen in which you want the FPS to be displayed.
  • After you have made a selection, click on 'Okay'.
How do I turn the FPS display off again? If you want to turn the display off, follow the same steps as above. Under the item “FPS display in the game” you choose the option “Off” this time.

Display the FPS in the game via the console (not recommended):

If you want to display your FPS directly in the game, you can use a console command. We do not recommend this method, however, because the display shows separate FPS values for the graphics card and processor. Therefore it is difficult to get precise information at a glance.

This is how you display your FPS:

  • In the game, press the '^' button on the keyboard (next to key 1 on most keyboards). That opens the console.
  • Writes the following console command to the console:
      PerfOverlay.DrawFps 1

  • Press Enter to confirm the selection.
  • Press the '^' button again to close the console.
How do I turn the FPS display off again? If you want to remove the display again, follow the same steps, but replace the 1 in the console command with a 0. So write in the console:

PerfOverlay.DrawFps 0

No matter which method you choose: The FPS display gives you important information about the performance of your PC in Battlefield 2042.
