Battlefield 2042 has a total of three major categories. One of the biggest of these is the portal mode, which fans can use to create their own modes. They also use weapons from three major Battlefield classes
What is the Battlefield Portal? The mode is developed by Ripple Effect Studios (formerly DICE LA). Portal is to become a community-controlled mode in which players can access content and maps from three Battlefield classics and create their own game modes. For the release these are:
- Battlefield 3
- Battlefield: Bad Company 2
- Battlefield 1942
From these three offshoots, vehicles and planes, weapons, tools and even factions can be played and combined in an absurd way. For example, you can have soldiers from World War II compete against US forces from Battlefield 3.
How should the mode work? According to EA, players in portal mode will be able to use extensive tools to create custom game modes and make other settings.
Tools are available for this that could previously only be used by developers. You won't be able to change maps, however.
