Call of Duty: Vanguard-Solving Technical Problems

Error 6068, Dev Error 5573, crashes, freezes and other problems with the new CoD in the World War II setting

For more than 15 years, a new part of Call of Duty has been released every fall. The series started out as a groundbreaking World War II shooter, went through a crisis of ideas in a modern setting, experimented with science fiction, and now it's back to its roots. The issue with the subtitle Vanguard is again dedicated to the 40s of the XX century and the fight against fascists. But this time, all the best practices of recent years are used, and the scale of the network campaign can impress even Battlefield fans.

Unfortunately, as happens with most online games, the launch of the new Call of Duty was accompanied by numerous bugs. In this guide, we have collected solutions for all common technical problems with the game.

What computer is needed for Call of Duty: Vanguard (system requirements)

The game can load up to 16 CPU threads. So even Intel Core i9 or AMD Ryzen 9 can't be considered redundant. In addition, a GeForce GTX 1080 or Radeon RX 5700-level graphics card is required for stable 60 FPS at the maximum settings in 1080p.

As for the official system requirements, they are designed only for 1080p (1920x1080) and 2K (2560x1440) resolutions. We reviewed independent tests of the game and added recommendations for playing in 4K (3840x2160).

Official minimum system requirements (1080p @ 60 FPS, low preset):

  • Operating system : Windows 10 (64-bit only!).
  • Processor : Intel Core i3-4340 / AMD FX 6300.
  • Video card : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 / AMD Radeon RX 470.
  • RAM : 8 gigabytes.

Official recommended system requirements (1080p @ 60 FPS, high preset):

  • Operating system : Windows 10 x64.
  • Processor : Intel Core i5-2500K / AMD Ryzen 5 1600X.
  • Video card : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 / AMD Radeon RX 580.
  • RAM : 16 gigabytes.

Computer for playing at 1440p @ 60 FPS (according to tests):

  • Operating system : Windows 10 x64.
  • Processor : Intel Core i7-8700K / AMD Ryzen 7 2700X.
  • Video card : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 / Radeon RX 6600 XT.
  • RAM : 16 gigabytes.

Computer for playing at 4K @ 60 FPS (according to tests):

  • Operating system : Windows 10 x64.
  • Processor : Intel Core i7-9700K / AMD Ryzen 7 3700X.
  • Video card : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 / Radeon RX 6800 XT.
  • RAM : 16 gigabytes.

Call of Duty: Vanguard does not start on Windows 7

The game is not designed to run on Microsoft operating systems older than Windows 10. In addition, a 64-bit version of the OS is required.

The game crashes without an error

I. Restart your computer.

II. If this does not help, then check the integrity of the game files on Steam:

  1. launch Steam;
  2. go to the"Library" section;
  3. click RMB on the name of the game ( Call of Duty: Vanguard ) in the list on the left and open properties;
  4. in the "Local Files" tab, click "Check the integrity of game files";
  5. wait for the process to complete.

III. It's also possible that your processor is too old and doesn't have support for AVX instructions. Perhaps in the future, the game will release an update for older processors. And at the moment, there is no solution to this problem.

"Insufficient Memory" error in Call of Duty: Vanguard

Your PC doesn't have enough RAM. The best solution is to increase the amount of RAM to at least 8 gigabytes. Increasing the paging file probably won't help. Also, be sure to close your browser before starting any game. Especially if it has a large number of open tabs.

Call of Duty: Vanguard doesn't connect to the server / servers don't work

This happens if the game's servers are overloaded or technical work is underway. Just try again after a while (sometimes the next day).

You can find out the status of Activision servers here .

The resolution doesn't change

This error may occur if screen zooming is enabled in Windows. You can compensate for this as follows:

  1. Find the file Vanguard.exe in the games folder.
  2. Go to Properties and go to the Compatibility tab.
  3. Click the "Change High DPI Settings" button.
  4. In the "Redefine zoom mode..." option, select "Application".

Launch "Audio Troubleshooting" by clicking Click on the volume icon in the lower-right corner of the desktop. Follow the program's instructions.

Game freezes / error DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG / black screen / error 8187A0005

The problem may be that the graphics card is overheating. Check if the fans of its cooling system are blocked by adjacent wires. If this is all right, then try resetting the overclocking: go to the MSI Afterburner application and click Reset (if this program is not installed, then the video card probably did not overclock).
