CoD Warzone: How do I change my name and why doesn't it always work?

In Call of Duty: Warzone you can change your Activision ID and name. We show you 2 methods in this guide and explain why the names cannot be changed too often.

Nick, username, pseudonym - a large number of players on the Internet use some kind of nickname on the net. This is the first business card you give to foreign players and it can have a big impact.

When you've had enough of your old name, here's all you need to know about changing your display name and Activision ID in Call of Duty: Warzone.

CoD Warzone: Change name with "Token"

What name is shown in the game? While you create a name for your characters in Battle.net games such as World of Warcraft, which can then be seen in the game, Warzone usually shows parts of your Activision ID as display names.

Other players can use the Acti-ID to find you (also in crossplay), but it is not the same ID that you use to log into the Activision services.

The ID usually consists of your display name and then consists of a hash and several digits.

What is the "token" about? Activision doesn't let you change your Acti-ID 10 times a week. In fact, this only happens a few times a year.

Activision distributes tokens every 6 months and you need a token to change your name. The key dates for receiving the tokens are:

  • 1st March
  • September 1

In the menu with the name change, you can see how many tokens you currently have. You can have a maximum of 2 tokens.

How can I change my display name? You have 2 options: In-game in the account settings and on the official Call of Duty website:

  • Warzone: change names in the game
  • Warzone: change name - ingame
  • Go to the settings
  • Select the tab on the far right "Account"
  • Go to the sub-item "Activision Account"
  • Click on "Change ad name"
Enter your new name and press confirm. But be careful: Warzone doesn't ask for further confirmation. So double-check your entries for errors.

CoD Warzone: change names on the website

  • Warzone: Change Name - Website
Visit " callofduty.com " and log in
  • Move your mouse pointer over your current Activision ID in the top right corner
  • Select the option "Basic information" or "Basic information" in the general settings
  • Here you change data about your name, your address, and at the bottom also your Activision ID
  • Click on "Edit" and enter the code that Activision sends you
  • Even after editing, you have to confirm your identity again and re-enter your account password

We have tested both approaches and found that the second confirmation on the website is not enough if you log in with your PlayStation or Xbox account. You will need your Activision account password at this point. Even if it is offered differently.

Once you have customized your name, you can use the Activision account options in-game to see what your display name and Activision ID look like. This way you can be sure that everything is correct.
