COD WARZONE: HOW DOES THE SLIDE CANCEL WORK AND WHY SHOULD EVERYONE MASTER IT?

With a small movement technique, you improve your gameplay in Call of Duty: Warzone: the slide cancel. You combine your slide with the tactical sprint, increasing your movement speed and keeping your hit zones moving at the same time. We show you how it works properly.

What is the "Slide Cancel"? This is a very popular technique in free battle royale Call of Duty: Warzone. You slide while sprinting and with a well-timed key combination you interrupt your slide and start right back into the fast tactical sprint.

How does this help me? This has 2 advantages:

  • You "outsmart" the cooldown of the tactical sprint and are therefore a bit faster overall
  • The constant "up and down" movements make it harder to hit yourself

Therefore, every player should seriously consider incorporating slide cancel into gameplay. We provide you with the most important information about it.

Warzone: Slide Cancel Guide

How does slide cancel work? Basically, it is a chain of 3 mechanics that you combine to slide cancel:

  • Tactic Sprint
  • Slide
  • Stand up

You run at full throttle in the tactical sprint and slide. After a short sliding distance, you stop sliding again (abort = cancel), get up and go straight back into the tactical sprint. You then have no cooldown for the tactical sprint.

If you have the timing, you go straight from one slide cancel to the next and benefit from the quick tactical sprint every time.

Key combination slide cancel

  • Tactical sprint for a few seconds
  • Slide
  • Shortly after, press slide again
  • Press "Jump" to stand up
  • Restart tactical sprint

What do I have to consider? Timing is important, otherwise, the trick is pretty simple. Press the "Slide - Slide - Jump" buttons in quick succession. If you jump after pressing, you were too slow. If you're still crouching, you were going too fast.

If your operator doesn't go back into the tactical sprint after getting up, the timing wasn't optimal either. Then try to press the keys even faster.

If you're playing with a controller and don't have any "paddles" or buttons on the back, you'll have to take your thumb off the right stick during the trick. This means you can't aim for a moment.

However, if you want to take full advantage of the slide cancel, you need buttons on the back.

What is the best way to do this? In the settings, you should activate the setting “press once briefly while running” in the “tactical sprint” option. Otherwise, you have to press sprint twice to get into the fast sprint again.

You'll also need to change the "Sliding Behavior" option to "Tap". This way you don't have to hold down the slide button while sprinting.

You can even automate the tactical sprint for full efficiency. Select the "Automatic tactical sprint" option in the "Automatic sprint" setting. A lot of pros use the auto sprint, but it's a very big change because you always go straight into the tactical sprint when you're moving forward while standing. In the settings, you should activate the setting “press once briefly while running” in the “tactical sprint” option. Otherwise, you have to press sprint twice to get into the fast sprint again.

Call of Duty: Warzone may not feature jetpacks or double jumps. Nevertheless, you can be a good deal ahead of your fellow players with good movement.

The slide cancel helps to get from one cover to the next faster and protects you from sneaky headshots because your head is constantly moving.
