In God of War, you can unlock a secret ending that teaches you an alternative ending to the story. We don't want to give too much away, as the secret ending may give a glimpse into the future of the series, so here's just how you can trigger an alternate ending.

After your first playthrough, there will still be many activities, treasures, and secrets in Midgard that have to be found and solved. So you can go looking for the treasure maps and norn chests, for example, or do all the other favors.
With a little trick, however, you can unlock a secret ending, which is also traded as the "real" ending among players. After you've completed your journey, go to your house in the wild forest one last time - you can use the mystical gates to get here faster. Kratos 'and Atreus' adventures began in the hut, and the secret ending is said to be told here too.

We don't want to tell you exactly what is happening here. Perhaps this alternative ending should herald a DLC or even the next part of the series. In the world tree, there are, for example, Asgard or Vanaheim, some places that exist but cannot be selected. However, this is pure speculation on our part.
