Total War: Warhammer 3 Unlock Commander of Kislev: How to get Boris Ursus

In the Total War: Warhammer 3 campaign, two Legendary Lords of the Kislev faction are at your disposal, Tzarina Katarina and Kostaltyn. But you still have the opportunity to unlock a third general with his own faction and commander effects. You can find out how here.

Kislev's commanders

At the start of Total War: Warhammer 3, Kislev has the most selectable generals of any faction, with three commanders. Alongside the Ice Queen Tzarina Katarina and the supreme patriarch of the Ursunite faith, Kostaltyn, the Red Tzar Boris Bokha (aka Boris Ursus) can also command the armies of Kislev as a Legendary Commander. But before that happens, you have to unlock it first.

If you move the mouse pointer over Boris Ursus' image when selecting the commander, you will only get the following message: "Success required: Win as Kislev in the task battle to free Boris Ursus". What exactly it is all about and what you have to do to unlock the commander, we will tell you below.

Unlock Boris Bokha

If you've played the prologue of Total War: Warhammer 3, which is also the tutorial for the extensive strategy game, you've already gained experience with the Kislev faction. In order to unlock Boris Ursus, you don't have to finish the prologue or start it at all.

Instead, you can start a new campaign and then choose a leader from the Kislev faction. Whether you prefer to choose Tzarina Katarina or Kostaltyn plays just as little a role as the choice of difficulty or other settings. Just start the campaign according to your ideas and try to assert yourself against the invading chaos armies. However, if you want to gain a geographical advantage when unlocking the Red Tsar, we advise you to choose the Ice Queen.

Your goal is to successfully complete the task battle "The Frostfalls". However, this is not available to you from the beginning, but will only be activated as the campaign progresses. Expansion is the way to add Boris Bokha to your ranks of commanders. You must acquire and hold the provincial capitals of Kislev, Praag, and Erengrad for ten turns. Once that's done, you'll unlock "The Frostfalls," which you can teleport to with your legendary commander.

You should go into battle well-armed. Otherwise, a few quite strong ranged units will make life unnecessarily difficult for you. If you are successful, you can have Boris appear at one of your provincial capitals or recruit him yourself. Whatever you decide, Boris Ursus is now available for selection for a new campaign.
