How to Create Folders on the Nintendo Switch Console

Nintendo Switch users have been unable to organize their workspace since the release of the console. A recent update has changed the overall approach to the placement of games in the system - groups have appeared. In this article, we'll show you how to create folders on your Nintendo Switch console.

How to Create a Folder (Group) on Nintendo Switch

Players can organize their workspace on the console. To do this, you must perform the following steps:

  1. Open the All Programs section.
  2. Press the "L" key to go to the "Groups" section.
  3. Use the Create Group button (Plus key).
  4. In the window that opens, select the necessary games and applications to add to the folder.
  5. Use the Next button (Plus key).
  6. Reorder the apps in the folder and click Next (Plus key).
  7. Enter a name for the group and use "OK" to save all changes.

The created folder will appear in the "Groups" section. To go to this section, the player must press "All Programs" and use the "L" key. Groups are not displayed on the main screen.

How to delete a folder (group) on Nintendo Switch

Hybrid Console users can delete previously created folders at any time. To do this, you will need to perform some actions:

  1. Open the All Programs section.
  2. Press the "L" key to go to the "Groups" section.
  3. Hover the marker over the folder you want to delete.
  4. Use the "Delete" button ("X" key).
  5. Click "Delete" to confirm the action.

The folder will disappear from the Group section, but all games and applications will remain on the device.

What are the possibilities and limitations

The ability to create folders appeared on all consoles from the Switch family, including the original model, Switch Lite and OLED. The new Groups feature is available on devices after installing the 14.0.0 update or later if the console system has more than 12 games and applications installed.

You can create up to 100 folders on one console, and each folder must contain up to 200 titles. Groups are assigned any names of the user's choice. You can add the same game or app to different folders, such as placing Metroid Dread in the Nintendo Exclusives and Favorite Games groups at the same time.
