Syberia: The World Before is a continuation of an adventure quest in which you have to solve the mysteries of Kate Walker. In this guide, we will show you how to solve all puzzles and get rare achievements.
Wagen, the capital of Ostertal. Spring 1937
After leaving the tram, follow the street to the musical square. To complete the "Explore the Ghetto" side mission, look at the painting on the easel, the sign in the alley opposite the painting, talk to the man, and pay attention to the Brown Shadows headquarters.
Talk to the rector in the square and give her the invitation from inventory. Set the notes on the piano and turn on the instrument.
"Iron Taiga", salt mine. Winter 2004
Read the diary, talk to Katyusha and complete all the tasks described. Before interacting with the camera grill, sit down on your bed to do some introspection. This will complete the side mission.
A little later, the guard will bring you personal belongings, inspect them and listen to Katyusha.
Wagen, Mist Bridge. Spring 1937
Irina asks to write a letter to Herr Gustav. To do this, you need a pen - examine the lower cabinet in the father's desk.
When one of the Nazis breaks the window, do not rush to interact with the note on the table. Before that, read some of the letters on the tables and in the drawer.
"Iron Taiga". Winter 2004
Select "Submit" to Kate's request and find the cart. Release it from the brake, roll back to the mining site and interact with the pickaxe. So you will open a passage to an abandoned tunnel with a fascist train. Examine the motorcycle and the cliff, then return to the carriage. To the right of him, examine the corpses of soldiers. While Kate is trying to start the iron horse, enter the train car and inspect the worktable.
Read the documents, move the officer's hand and press the button on the table. A secret box will open. Take away the wooden disk with fascist symbols from there and insert it into the round hole in the table. A panel with keys will open on the right. Before that, you need to interact with all the interactive objects in order to complete the "Explore the Train" side objective.
Leave the car, talk to Katyusha and return to the second car. Open it with the key. When the cellmate finds the painting, watch a long cut-scene.
Wagen, Flower Quarter. Which stores to choose and how to find them on the map
About a year later you will be in Wagen. Use the telephone directory to select three stores:
- Pawnshop - paintings, gold.
- Store.
- Antique dealer's shop.
After that, you need to find shops on the map. Pay attention to the coordinates of each store (D3, E5, and C4). Open a map and mark these positions. Choose the most suitable store - C4.
Before leaving the guest house, go up to the second floor, take the painting and the wallet from the table. Interact with all interactive objects and talk to Frau Wagner. You can do a self-examination on the bed. To leave the guest house, interact with the door to the right of the reception.
Look around the block before taking the tram. This is how you complete the side task:
- Read the sign in front of the establishment.
- Go down the stairs, inspect the street and the gate.
- Interact with the motorcycle.
- Look at the sign above the tram stop.
Wagen, Antique Quarter. How to solve the puzzle and launch the automaton in the pawnshop
First, inspect all the market stalls to complete the side objective. After reaching Muller's shop, interact with the bell three times. Show the man the painting you found on the train. A little later, you will have to solve the puzzle of launching the automaton.
Look at the sides of the mechanism and interact with the small levers. This will give you two buttons to click on. Now you need to enter the correct combination. It is written on the front side of the automaton, next to the Voralberg logo - "293670". Select these numbers in sequence, the top of the device will open.
Go back to the Voralberg logo again. Lower the shields so that all the holes come together and a button appears. This will give you a special key to the automaton.
Insert it into the single hole at the top and place Oscar's heart into the mechanism. When the automaton runs away, go down the street and talk to the man in the hat. You need to pick up the key to the chest. It is on the chest by the books on the right.
Oscar will run away again. Catch up with him and use the mop to get it out from under the closet. When you find him again, choose any two answers, as they do not affect the plot. Return to Muller and leave the block.
Wagen, Camp Silberspiegel. How to solve the puzzle and open Yunta's chest in the attic
On the way to camp, do some introspection and interact with all the interactive locations. When you get to the camp, match the picture with the landscape. Select the following similarities:
- sharp peaks;
- railing;
- Rock in the shape of a heart.
Talk to demoiselle Lenny, after which you have to play as Dana Rose. Open the doors behind the counter and interact with the barrels in the upper right corner. Pour the following drinks:
- Spitz.
- Spitz + Birne.
- Nebel (2).
When the Nebel keg runs out, open the shutter at the bottom and change the keg. Serve drinks to scientists, talk to them. A member of the Brown Shadows will intervene in the conversation - ignore him.
Examine the paintings on the table and select one of them. This will unlock the Artistic Dilemma achievement. Go outside, talk to Leni and examine the couple on the far side of the veranda. Pay attention to the firewood next to the door - you will need it later.
Return to the building, inspect the fireplace. Drop a log, then pick up another one outside. Turn the camera to the right, inspect the valve, which is highlighted in the screenshot below. Remove it and use it on the air intake on the left.
Interact with the piano, watch the cut-scene. Now you control Leni. Try to play the instrument and go up to the second floor. Proceed to the far room on the right and open the window. This will bring you back to the present time.
Go to the spyglass, insert a coin and take a picture of all the sights of the mountain. This is necessary in order to know their exact coordinates.
Enter the building, chat with the climber and go up to the second floor. Examine the utility room and Leni's room. Interact with the lever to lower the ladder to the attic.
Near the entrance, take the receiving coil and go to the chest. Now you need to solve the puzzle. Screenshots with correct images are shown below.
Rotate the top panels to unlock the two combination locks. The correct combinations can be seen in the photos of these places:
- Silberspiegel (left panel) - 072.
- Devil's Pass (right panel) - 108.
In the chest, examine the medicine, film, and read the diary. This will allow you to switch between Dana and Kate. Playing as Dana, take the key to the chest and hide it in the cache. Switch to Kate, find the key, and open the secret panel. Enter the following combination:
- Goat.
- Flower.
- The mountains.
- Spruce.
This combination can be seen in the photos in the darkroom. Take the projector and insert two films in order. Return to Leni, watch another scene with Dana and Leon, and return to the tram.
Use your computer before bed. Read all the available information to get the "Seeker" achievement. When you go to rest, you will be transported to the past.
Examine all the highlighted objects in the room. If you find the book in the cabinet drawer, you will get the Classic Novel achievement.
When the extra activity is done, take the music box next to the fireplace. Back in real-time, go downstairs and call Olivia.
Music Academy. How to fix the automatons in the music square and solve all the puzzles
In the morning, go downstairs and chat with Frau Wagner. Go to the music academy by tram and pick up Oscar on the way to the square. Climb up to the gazebo, do some "introspection" on the railing, then go into the academy building. Talk to the rector, listen to his proposal. He will give a document with which you can inspect the area on behalf of Dana.
Take a look at the first automaton mechanism (to the left of the gazebo). Open it with the code "1973" and make the correct combination. To do this, set the desired letters, as in the screenshot below, then use the levers to lower the parts down. When done, click on the green button.
In the present time, approach the only van on the square. Examine it and remember the phone number. Return to the rector, dial the number and ask the owner to remove the car. Look again at the place where the van was standing and enter the code "9708" to open the crate.
Now you need to make a combination of registers on the right and on the left, as it was done in Dana's time.
If everything is done correctly, switch to the center button. Pull the upper lever to the right and the lower lever up. Then click on it.
Playing as Kate, go to the coffee shop on the corner. Talk to the barista and go around the building on the right. Here you will see an emergency exit. Move the dumpster to the door and climb inside. Move the rack, go into the elevator.
Find the engine control mechanism. Pull the lever on the right, then lower the handle on the left. Press the button - the engine is started.
Go around the platform and go down the second ladder. Interact with the faucet to open the gate, then pick up the automaton part on the toolbox.
Approach the last mechanism on the square and force open the box. Insert the part for the automaton, start the device. Go to the gazebo.
Put the notes of the anthem on the piano and press any key. The engine start mechanism will open. Turn the central gear so that it releases the latches on the right and left.
Get rid of the broken automaton and replace it with Oscar. After the cut-scene, return to the rector and take Dana Rose's dossier.
Mist Bridge. How to distract the store owner and match the combination to Dana's chest
Get on the tram and go to the Mist Bridge area. Find house #20 and enter the store. Before that, we recommend interacting with all interactive objects in order to complete the additional task "Learn the latest news about Vagen."
Talk to the owner of the store, ask her for help. When she refuses, leave the store and go back to the tram stop. Directly under the bus stop, you will find an automaton. Insert the coin into the machine and take the musical toy.
Return to the store, place the toy on the shelf next to the vendor's table. While Frau Heigel is distracted, use the ladder and go upstairs. Look around the second and third floors. When you find yourself on the third floor, pay attention to the hole in the floor. So you will see another photo. If you find all the photos on the second and third floors, you will get the achievement "Where is her bedroom?".
Exit the building and examine the fire escape to the right of the entrance. Select Drainpipe Climbing [Oscar]. So you get to the mechanism and lower the ladder.
In Dana Rose's bedroom, find the two pieces of the note. One is on the floor by the piano, and the other is under the bed. Here, take a diploma with a hint and make a combination for Dana's chest:
- Key "fa" (bass key).
- Flat.
- Lower mordent.
- Fermata.
- Quarter note.

Baltayar, Mountains. How to open Bauer's chest and help the gorum
You are now playing as Leon. Inspect your tent, collect all items and a backpack. On the street, draw water from a barrel - get the "Be Prepared" achievement. Examine Bauer's pocket watch and note the daughter's date of birth. Enter the second tent and open the chest with the combination "0408".
When you examine the camp, leave it and follow the Sauer. Use the machete to cut down the tree and get across to the island to the gorum. Give the beast biscuits, find some sticks and pieces of liana. Make a makeshift splint on the gorum's leg and return to the camp. After a lengthy cutscene, the game will switch you to Dana Rose. There will be no puzzles here. Put plot items in a suitcase and read the diary to return to the present.
Mist Bridge. How to find out about the pogroms in Wagen
Go out into the corridor, find here the medical report, the inscription on the wall, and Dana Rose's handkerchief. Go down the street, go to the tram stop and read the book on the table on the left.
It won't be enough. Go back to the store, go on the left side and go down the steps to the monument to the fallen. Use Dana's old handkerchief to get rid of the dust and read the names.
Return to the tram stop. Watch the cut-scene.
London, Foreign Office. How to properly place troops on the map and get a list of Resistance
Dana needs to place troops on the map. To do this, you can use the command reports, or use our screenshot. Please note that all infantry divisions of the "Brown Shadows" are located only on the shores of Europe.
After talking with Yunta, you need to prepare the telegraph for work. To do this, interact with the mechanism on the left side of the room. Raise the pressure in the left chamber and lower it in the right chamber. When the side panel opens, turn the knob clockwise a few times.
Sit down at the telegraph. Make the following combination:
- Section: Resistance;
- Theme: Networks;
- Country: Ostertal.
Cemetery. How to get a pickaxe, pick the lock of the barn and open the gate
After a few cut-scenes, you will return to the graveyard again. Head to the exit to run the script. The gate will close and you will have to find a way to open it. If you have carefully explored the cemetery, then you probably already know what to do. If you find all the objects and dead ends, as well as the plaque of patrons, you will get the Cartographer achievement.
First of all, you need to find the plaque of patrons to complete the side task. After that, pick up Oscar and go to the place on the map, which is signed "Kirka". Use the automaton and get the tool.
Run to the barn and use the pickaxe. Take the handle. Now inspect the right side of the cemetery, find the mechanism, and apply the handle to it.
Wagen, Mountains. How to start the generator and inspect the bodies
On the way to the camp, inspect the fuel to the right of the stairs. Find the photos in the common room and take the key from the table.
Go outside, interact with the generator. Examine the fuel tank, then return to the stairs and take the canister. Fill the gas tank, apply the found key to the box. Take the handle and turn on the ignition. Insert the handle into the hole in the front of the generator, then start the engine.
Examine the three bodies in the tent, read the conclusions of the forensic experts. Return to the building and go up to the second floor. Here you will meet Ludwig. Examine the new acquaintance's room to complete the side objective. When you're ready, go to Leni.
Wagen, Camp Silberspiegel (summer 1944). How to install an antenna and set up a walkie-talkie
You play as Dana again. If you look at the painting you chose at the beginning of the game, you will get the Art Criticism achievement. Climb up to the attic and find the old radio. Take Herr Günther's antenna and go down to the first floor. Before interacting with the radio, go to the veranda and chat with other members of the Resistance. This will complete the additional task. You can also do a self-examination of the steps of the veranda.
When you're ready, return to the house and find the walkie-talkie on the ground floor. Examine the left pocket of the case, take the documents. Now you need to properly set up your radio to communicate with London.
Examine the Voralberg antenna in the backpack. Rotate the disk - so the device can be installed on the radio. Pull the handle up, then tilt the antenna to the right. To open it, turn the lever clockwise.
If you read the documentation, you can decrypt the desired channel for communication using Morse code:
- 2111.12.121.21 - BARN.
- Transmission - 6.9 kHz.
- Reception - 8.4 kHz.
Turn on the receiver and transmitter, then set the above values.
Watch a long cut-scene, after which you will find yourself in a hospital. Talk to the fascist, scientist, and Leni's father. After that, enter the room. When you return to the present, Leni will offer to inspect the automaton in her room.
Wagen, Camp Silberspiegel. How to solve Leni's automaton puzzle and get Dana's letter
To open Leni's automaton, go down to the first floor and inspect the woman's wheelchair. In the armrest, find a special key that can change its shape. Return to the robot. Flip the two tabs of the tie over so you can insert the key.
Pay attention to the design of the key. While solving the puzzle, you will have to change its shape several times, depending on the holes.
Get to the heart of the automaton and follow these steps:
- Open the small handle on the right.
- Wait until the circle is with the hole up and pull the handle from the top.
- Pull the handle from below.
Replace the device with Oscar's heart. Now he will help you. Switch to your buddy and lower the body of the automaton once. This will open the drawer at the back of the robot and unlock the ball.
Switch back to Oscar and lower the robot's body even lower. You will open access to a secret castle. The ball cannot be moved where the weights are. Control the arms of the automaton with Oscar to raise or lower them. Use the wrench to adjust the tubes.
Once done, reshape the key one last time and open the lock in the robot's mouth. From now on, just follow the game to the final location.
Wagen, Central Station. How to present the correct train ticket
Walk forward along with the platform and find a special device for preparing tickets - a validator. Set the date to 11/30 and place the ticket on the table. "Punch" the ticket and put a stamp on it. Since the ink is dry, move the stamp back and press it.
