Dune: Spice Wars, a strategy game recently released in early access, in which you can control one of four factions, capture settlements and develop your empire. Despite the game tutorial, many players have questions about the construction of some buildings. In this guide, we will explain how to build refineries and refineries, what they provide, and when is the best time to start building these facilities.
How to build a refinery
The Refinery is one of the main buildings in the game that allows you to extract spices and process them into the official currency of the Empire. In addition, spices will be useful to you for paying taxes, which are set by the Empire. The tax is the main condition of your presence on Arrakis.
To build a refinery, first of all, you need to scout the area near your base. For this, special aircraft "ornithopters" are used. One recon drone will be available from the very start of the game, but we recommend creating several ornithopters. Select them and click "Auto Exploration". Drones will automatically explore the nearest places of interest, saving you time.
You need to wait until one of the drones finds the Spice Field location. It is indicated by a purple icon on the map.
Now create one infantry and some ranged units. Their names depend on which faction you play for. Three squads will be enough to capture the settlement, on the territory of which the spice field is located.
During the battle, pay attention to the exclamation mark icon above your fighters. In this case, they need to be taken away from the place where they are. The fact is that sandworms are attracted to the sounds of battles, which can attack the fighters and kill them.
When a settlement is occupied, you can sack or capture it. Select a settlement and click on the flag icon. After that, you can go to the "Buildings" section and select "Refinery".
How to quickly mine spices and manage a refinery
Wait until construction is completed and select a harvester that will work on the spice field. This heavy machine creates a strong vibration when mining the mineral, which also attracts sandworms. If a worm appears nearby, an exclamation mark icon will appear above the harvester. In this case, you need to select a technique and click "Review". If you do not have time to do this, then the worm will devour the car.
You also have the right to activate the auto recall of equipment. This will reduce the total amount of spices harvested, but you don't have to worry about your harvester being destroyed.
Now you need to choose how to deal with the spices. You have the right to store them, exchange them for other resources from competitors, or exchange them for money (solari) at the current COOAM rate. The latter happens automatically. The exchange is configured in the upper left corner of the screen. To do this, move the slider up or down.
There is also a window with information about the Imperial tax, which you need to pay within a certain period. It is worth noting that the tax will increase, so it is in your interest to capture as many fields as possible and install refineries to extract this resource.
How to build a processing plant. How to get money fast (solari)
The refinery allows you to extract rare components that are automatically exchanged for money (solari). To install such a plant, a number of conditions must be met:
- You need to find a location with rare components (yellow icon on the map).
- Capture a settlement with deposits of rare components.
- Learn the Warehouse System skill in the Development section.
