Almost two years ago, Square Enix officially announced Final Fantasy 16, but since then there have been few new updates to the game. To be fair, the developers have repeatedly said they don't want to show more of the game until it's closer to launch, and it looks like that time is fast approaching.
Last December, producer Naoki Yoshida confirmed that a new trailer for Final Fantasy 16 would arrive in the spring of 2022, and most recently revealed that the game is in its final stages of development.
During a recent NieR Re[in]carnation mobile game stream, Yoshida stated that a new trailer for Final Fantasy 16 is ready. While there were "certain factors" that apparently delayed the release of the new trailer, Yoshida says it will be released "soon."
If Final Fantasy 16 is really close to being finished, there's a good chance its next presentation will come with a release date - and that date won't be too far away. For now, we're just wishful thinking, but it looks like we'll find out more soon. Summer Game Fest is scheduled for June 9th, so there's a chance we'll see the game at that event.
