New Steam Deck update adds one of the most requested features

Valve continues to release updates to the Steam Deck designed to improve the user experience on a handheld device. After adding a lock screen and window switching in the previous update, the latest update adds improvements for players using Steam Deck with an external display, as well as game-specific performance tweaks and more.

After the latest update, the interface will scale to a virtual resolution of 1280x800 when connected to external displays, although Valve adds that this feature will be further developed and improved in the future.

The update also added the ability for players to tweak performance settings for every game they play on Steam Deck, which is a useful feature given the limitations of Steam Deck portable hardware. Games will use the default system settings, but profiles for each game can be configured via the quick menu. This has been one of the most requested features on Steam Deck since the beginning.

The rest of the updates include a number of fixes and improvements to various console keyboards, as well as improvements for players switching between online and offline modes.
