Nintendo Switch Sports Bowling: tips for throwing strikes

One of the most popular sports in Nintendo Switch Sports is bowling. Here players are looking for the best technique to knock down all pins with just one throw and get a strike. In this guide, we will tell you some strategies that have worked very well for us.

Strike Tip #1: Get through the middle

The first strategy is aimed primarily at new players who want to achieve success without much effort. A swinging and targeted throw on the middle pin surprisingly often leads to a strike.

  • Use the X button to zoom in on the lane, then use the analog stick to move the finish line to cover the center arrow.
  • Alternatively, you can move your character all the way to the edge of the page and then use Y/A to align the target line diagonally so that it's over the first arrow from the side and pointing to the middle pin.

Try these positions to clear lots of pins.

Once you have set the target line correctly, hold down the ZR/ZL button and swing the Joy-Con as straight as possible so that the ball does not change direction and hits the middle. It is also important that you put some force into the throw so that the ball picks up enough speed (don't forget the wrist strap).

How to give the ball a spin

If you've ever watched a professional bowling match, you'll know that a spin shot is the most consistent way to throw a strike. The aim is for the ball to turn sideways into the pins.

In Nintendo Switch Sports you can imitate such throws. To do this, you need to turn your wrist inward at the end of the swing motion when the ball leaves your virtual hand. Depending on the angle at which you turn your wrist, the twist is more or less strong.

Strike tip #2: With a twist to success

We now use the technique described to throw strikes as consistently as possible. For starters, we recommend you take the starting position of your character. Because the starting position is always identical, it is easier to keep deviations when throwing to a minimum. When throwing, turn your wrist inwards by about 90 degrees so that the ball hits the middle pin slightly to the side. With more practice, you can shift your position further out and give the ball more spin.
