Walkthrough V Rising - guide to all bosses

How to find and defeat all the bosses, how to turn into a bat, bear, toad, and so on, and how to track the bosses in the game

In this guide, we've focused on all the bosses available in V Rising, arranging them in ascending level order. Some enemies are permanent residents of the location shown in the screenshot below, although others may only appear under certain circumstances or travel in the vicinity of the marked position.

Walkthrough V Rising - guide to all bosses

Alpha Wolf (level 16)

What power can be obtained: Wolf Form

Alpha Wolf (level 16)

Alpha Wolf is the first boss you can hunt down in V Rising. It's probably the first one you'll encounter. However, this battle against the Alpha Wolf does not make it any easier. The enemy is level 16, so before you face him, make sure that you have upgraded your character to at least the same level. In principle, you can easily do this if you focus on quests. He has a lot of health and a few nasty moves that take a lot of health, so make sure you familiarize yourself with the healing process. If you haven't already, collect some Copper to craft better weapons and upgrade your current gear.

Rufus Foreman (Level 20)

What power can be obtained: Blood Fury

Rufus Foreman (Level 20)

Unlockable recipes: carpentry workbench, hunting crossbow, fishing rod, wood sculpture, picture frame

Rufus Foreman (or Bridagier) is a difficult boss in the early stages of the game, so you are in for a serious test. His fire crossbow deals massive damage and can kill low-level players in just a few hits, so you need to use dashes to dodge enemy attacks as often as possible. Like Kelly, Rufus resides in the NPC camp, so you will encounter other hostile characters who will be drawn into the fight. Deal with weaker enemies first, and then focus on the boss.

Errol the stonebreaker (Level 20)

What power can be obtained: Aftershock

Unlockable Recipes: Large Stash

Errol the stonebreaker (Level 20)

Errol the stonebreaker is located in a mine near the center of Farbane Forest. It has three key attacks: a spinning melee attack that fires when you get close, a long-range blast of magical energy that travels in a straight line across the entire battlefield, and a hammer slam that sends out magical beams (in different directions). As such, the boss has plenty of melee and ranged attacks, but they telegraph nicely and are easy to dodge. Errol has a lot of health, so this fight is more about how to control stamina and avoid other enemies that populate the cave.

Kelly, the forst Archer (Level 20)

What power can be obtained: Frost Bat

Unlockable Recipes: Tannery, Traveler's Sling, Empty Flask, Leather

Kelly, the forst Archer (Level 20)

Kelly the forst Archer is expected to use a combat bow, from which she shoots magical ice arrows. However, not everything is so simple. Instead of firing one arrow at a time, Kelly tends to form whole bursts. Something like a shotgun blast: three arrows fly at the same time. It can also trigger an AoE volley of arrows, dealing massive damage to anyone nearby. If you want to survive in combat, learn how to dodge in time and understand where the enemy is going to shoot. Because Kelly is living in a gang camp, other opponents can get in trouble and the fight can turn into chaos. On a multiplayer server, it's best to enlist the support of a friend.

Lydia Chaos Archer (level 26)

What power can be obtained: Chaos Volley

Unlockable Recipes: Devourer

Lydia Chaos Archer (level 26)

Lydia the Chaos Archer infuses her arrows with chaos magic, but don't panic. Lidia is actually the easiest boss in V Rising as her arrows are slow and easy to dodge. There is an area attack that allows Lydia to toss several Chaos Bombs into the air, but they deal minimal damage and are also easy to dodge. Lydia does not stand still, so you will have to find the boss. Her Chaos Volley ability is a strong AoE power that can be obtained early in the game. It will allow you to easily destroy large enemy groups.

Grayson the Armourer (level 27)

What power can be obtained: Crimson Aegis

Unlockable Recipes: Workboards, Longboards, Whetstone

Grayson the Armourer (level 27)

When you approach Grayson the Armourer, he will place several traps in the arena. If you step on one of them, you will receive damage and a movement speed penalty, which means you will become more vulnerable to subsequent attacks from the boss. Luckily, you can avoid this debuff. There is an armored dummy in each corner of the arena. If you interact with the mannequin, you will receive a temporary shield that will protect you from any damage and negate the effects of traps. So, take a shield like this and then run around the arena and activate all the traps to clear the battlefield and leave you alone with the Armsman.

Goreswine the Ravager (level 27)

What kind of power can be obtained: corpse explosion, bone curtain

Unlockable Recipes: Tomb, Summon Skeleton, and Ghoul

Goreswine the Ravager (level 27)

Goreswine the Ravager mainly uses poison effects that deal damage over time. For example, poisonous geysers can appear from the ground, which refers to the boss's AoE attacks. You have to move throughout the fight. These poisonous puddles will block the path to the boss, so I recommend using ranged attacks and dealing damage from a safe distance.

Putrid Rat (level 30)

What power can be obtained: Rat Form

Putrid Rat (level 30)

Unlike other bosses, Putrid Rat cannot be found using the Altar of Blood. Instead, you must build a nest of parasites, and then the boss will appear. This complicates the search for the boss itself, although the battle with him is not so difficult. The Rotten Rat has low health, so it is easy to destroy it with your vampire abilities. Periodically destroy ordinary rats that appear during the battle, otherwise, you will be surrounded.

Clive the firestarter (level 30)

What power can be obtained: Veil of Chaos

Unlockable Recipes: Alchemy Table, Sulfur, Small Explosive

Clive the firestarter (level 30)

Clive the Firestarter is a true explosives expert who will unleash an endless barrage of bombs and grenades on you. Luckily, this can be used to your advantage as the arena has explosive barrels and crates that you can detonate. If these explosives explode near Clive, they will deal massive damage to him. Thus, you can get a significant advantage in battle. If you manage to win this battle, you will receive a recipe for a small box of explosives, which can be used to destroy large resource stones.

Polora the Feywalker (level 34)

What power can be obtained: Ghost Wolf, Illusory Veil

Unlockable Recipes: Vampire Gate, Garden Floors, Potion with Low Garlic Resistance

Polora the Feywalker (level 34)

Polora the Feywalker is another magical boss that can summon ghost orbs and a wolf. If you get close, Polora will use an attack that inflicts a fear status, causing the hero to run away from the boss for several seconds. You will not be able to deal damage, and in general, this status causes a lot of inconveniences, so I recommend staying at a distance and using various abilities to deal damage from a distance.

Ferocious Bear (level 36)

What kind of power can be obtained: Bear Form

Unlockable Recipes: Fur Rugs

Ferocious Bear (level 36)

Ferocious Bear has only a few attacks, but they do a lot of damage. His main attack is a melee claw slash, which he usually uses when you are close. There is also a ground impact that causes tremors inside the cave as rocks begin to fall from the ceiling. The Dire Bear is ruthless and aggressive, so you will have little time to rest. Carry healing potions with you to heal between his attacks and stay on the move. If you stand still, the Dire Bear will unleash many claws and kill you in a matter of seconds. While dash is a useful tool in combat, I also recommend using the Blood Rite ability. It will allow you to resist attacks for a short time, causing damage to the enemy, and also heal your character a little.

Quincy the Bandit King (level 37)

What power can be obtained: Chaos Barrier, Relentless Rush

Unlockable recipes: forge, workbench, iron ingot, iron weapon, armor

Quincy the Bandit King (level 37)

Quincy the Bandit King may seem like a fairly mundane opponent, but his chaotic attacks can leave you in a daze. Quincy's basic magic attack allows you to unleash several chaos fireworks that leave an explosive trail behind them. They are hard to dodge as the fireworks spiral, so try to stay behind the Quincy as long as possible. Fortunately, this is the only dangerous attack in the Quincy arsenal, so it's easy enough to learn the fight pattern against this boss.

Nicholaus the Fallen (level 37)

What power can be obtained: Pestilence, Ward of the Damned

Unlockable Recipes: School

Nicholaus the Fallen (level 37)

At first, Nicholaus the Fallen seems like a fairly simple opponent, firing magic bolts that are easy to dodge. But everything will change quickly when Nikolai begins to use necromancy, summoning numerous skeletons. This added threat makes the fight against Nicholaus the Fallen much more chaotic, so it's important to use crowd control spells here.

Beatrice the Tailor (level 38)

What power can be obtained: the form of a person

Unlockable recipes: loom, hunter's cloak, cloth, cotton yarn

Beatrice the Tailor (level 38)

The battle with Beatrice the Tailor is more like a mad chase than a fight. Beatrice is a sweet granny who lives in one of the many villages on the Danlí farms and is incapable of fighting vampires. Instead, she flees in a panic, calling for help from local defenders. You need to kill all the defenders while chasing Beatrice through the village streets and using whatever vampire powers you have to attack her from behind.

Vincent the Frostbringer (Level 40)

What power can be obtained: Frost Barrier, Ice Shroud

Unlockable Recipes: Jail Cell, Reinforced Plank

Vincent the Frostbringer (Level 40)

Vincent has a unique ability that allows him to launch several magical ice projectiles. If any of them hit you, the hero will be frozen, unable to move or attack you. This effect will last for a few seconds but usually ends sooner when Vincent makes his next melee attack and damages you. Like many other bosses, Vincent also has a few allies who will fire crossbows at you throughout the fight, so consider getting rid of them first before dueling Vincent in a one-on-one duel.

Christina Sun Priestess (level 44)

What power can be obtained: Purgatory

Unlockable Recipes: Glass, Empty Glass Bottle, Blood Rose Potion, Holiness Resistance Potion

Christina Sun Priestess (level 44)

Christina Sun Priestess doesn't have much armor, so she's vulnerable to most of your attacks. However, the fight will be easy. Throughout the fight, Christina will use sacred abilities to heal while her minions distract you. First, deal with these guards, and then you can easily destroy Christina.

Leandra, Shadow Priestess (level 46)

What power can be obtained: Phantom Assassin

Unlockable Recipes: Jewelry Table, Scourge Pendant, Scourge Stone, Summon Skeleton Priest

Leandra, Shadow Priestess (level 46)

Like Nicholas, the Fallen, Leandra Shadow Priestess summons many minions to aid her in combat. Fortunately, there will be fewer of them than Nikolai, so this battle is a little easier. Leandra also has low health, so your attacks will quickly disable her.

Tristan Vampire Hunter (Level 46)

What power can be obtained: Bloodlust

Unlockable Recipes: Major Blood Essence

Tristan Vampire Hunter (Level 46)

Tristan the Vampire Hunter is a more dangerous opponent than other bosses in the Farbane woods, so I don't advise you to face him at the very beginning of your adventure (although it's possible). If you do this, we recommend hiding and returning to him much later, since Tristan has a high level of 46. Tristan uses a variety of fire-based attacks that can set your character on fire and deal damage over time, draining health incredibly quickly. Use high-level equipment and healing potions to survive this fight.

Terah the Geomancer (level 48)

What power can be obtained: Wraithguard

Unlockable Recipes: Gem Cutting Table, Siege Golem Stone, Common Gems

Terah the Geomancer (level 48)

Terah the Geomancer lives in the mountains, where countless gems and veins of various ores can also be found. Defeating Terra will allow you to use Chop Gems. The Wraithguard ability, unlocked by defeating the Geomancer, will allow you to briefly summon a giant golem to fight by your side. Terah Geomancer can be found in the northwest of Danlí Farms.

Meredith Bright Archer (level 52)

What power can be obtained: Blood Coil

Unlockable Recipes: Wool Thread

Meredith Bright Archer (level 52)

Meredith Bright Archer uses her bow to unleash holy attacks but is otherwise not too different from previous archer bosses. Naturally, since her level is higher, she deals more damage, but her attacks - long-range magic arrow and area volley - are quite predictable. Get ready to dodge incoming projectiles and immediately get close to deal damage to Meredith.

FrostMaw the Mountain Terror (level 56)

What power can be obtained: Ice Ring

Unlockable Recipes: Scroll

FrostMaw the Mountain Terror (level 56)

FrostMaw the Mountain Terror is essentially Krampus in V Rising. A truly terrible enemy. Its sharp fangs and gnarled claws deal massive damage, so you need to carefully prepare for this fight. Although the level of the Ice Maw is lower compared to the other boss in the Sacred Mountains, the enemy is a real horror that only the most experienced players should face. If you manage to win this battle, you will receive the Ice Ring ability, which allows you to freeze enemies and other players for a few seconds. The FrostMaw must be sought in the north of the Sacred Mountains.

Octavian, Captain of the Militia (Level 58)

What power can be obtained: Mirror strike

Recipes to unlock: Anvil, Dark Silver Bar, Dawnthorn Regalia, Dark Silver Weapon

Octavian, Captain of the Militia (Level 58)

Militia Captain Octavian looks like a normal swordsman, but he has several magical attacks that allow him to strike from a distance. When he swings his sword, it will occasionally release blades that travel across the map and deal damage to players. Luckily, they move slowly and are easy to dodge. The main thing is not to stand still. But if such a saw hits you, you will be stunned and vulnerable to other boss attacks.

Ungora the Spider Queen (Level 60)

What power can be obtained: Flying arachnid

Unlockable recipes: ghost yarn, silk, spider

Ungora the Spider Queen (Level 60)

Ungora, the Spider Queen is a huge spider that lurks in the depths of the Cursed Forest. Her huge claws deal a lot of damage, but those who can defeat her will have the ability to summon allied spiders. You will find Ungora in the center of the Cursed Forest.

Shepherd Raziel (level 60)

What power can be obtained: crimson beam

Recipes to unlock: Athenaeum, Silver Resistance Potion, Corrupted Artifact

Shepherd Raziel (level 60)

Shepherd Raziel is the leader of the Danlí monastery, using holy powers to destroy vampires. Luckily, defeating him will make you a lot stronger as you unlock the Crimson Beam power and, among other rewards, the recipe for the Silver Resistance Potion. You can find Raziel in the northwest of Danli Farms.

Foulrot the soultaker (level 62)

What power can be obtained: Mist trance

Recipes to unlock: Wraith Veil, Wraith Dust, Summon Banshee

Foulrot the soultaker (level 62)

Some of the V Rising bosses are cursed, but this enemy is the most vile of them all. The Foulrot has a horse's head and uses two blades. This is a sectarian who wants to send all his victims to hell. If you manage to defeat the Rot, you will receive a portion of the power of the cultists in the form of the Mist Trance ability. It will allow you to temporarily become intangible, that is, invulnerable to any incoming attacks. You will find the Foulrot in the southeast of the Cursed Forest.

Jade, Vampire Hunter (Level 62)

What power can be obtained: Chaos Volley

Unlockable Recipes: Large Explosive, Primal Blood Essence

Jade, Vampire Hunter (Level 62)

Like Tristan, whom you may have already fought in the Farbane Woods, Vampire Hunter Jade is a formidable opponent. At level 62, this hunter puts on a real skill test with dual pistols. And if you manage to survive, you will receive a great reward. The Chaos Volley ability allows you to deal massive magic damage to multiple targets. Jade, the vampire hunter, can be found somewhere in the middle of Danlí's grounds.

Duke of Balaton (level 62)

What power can be obtained: Toad Form

Duke of Balaton (level 62)

The Duke of Balaton is one of my favorite V Rising bosses. This is an ugly multicolored toad that is so hard to resist. The Duke of Balaton seems to be very rich, but surprisingly, you will only receive one reward for winning. If you emerge victorious from the lair of the Duke of Balaton, you will unlock the ability to turn into a toad, which will allow you to jump on the rocks. You will find the Duke of Balaton on the northern edge of the Cursed Forest.

Mairwyn the Elementalist (level 64)

What power can be obtained: Crystal Spear

Unlockable Recipes: Imperial Thread

Mairwyn the Elementalist (level 64)

Mairwyn is a vicious spellcaster who has mastered the forces of nature and strikes his opponents with various elements. If you manage to defeat the Elementalist, you will receive your own elemental powers in the form of the Crystal Spear ability, which causes a chilling effect. You'll find Mairwyn the Elementalist in the southeast of the Silverlight Hills.

Willfred, chief of the werewolves (level 64)

What power can be obtained: Strike to the heart

Recipes to unlock: Holy Strike Resistance

Willfred, chief of the werewolves (level 64)

V Rising is all about vampires, but it's no surprise that werewolves appear in the game at some point. Following each other, you will fight with two wild monsters at once. Werewolf Chieftain Wilfred is a formidable level 64 boss, but the recipe for the Flask of Holy Damage Resistance that you receive as a reward is the most valuable reward that will come in handy in subsequent boss fights. You can find Werewolf Chieftain Wilfred in the Werewolf Village in the northeast of Dunley Farmlands, just below the Cursed Forest border.

Azariel Sunbringer (level 68)

What kind of power can be obtained: Surge of power

Unlockable Recipes: Gold Bar

Azariel Sunbringer (level 68)

Azariel the Sunbringer has become the leader of the Church of Radiance and truly believes in the holy word. Unfortunately, your vampire nature seems to conflict with his beliefs, so you will have to fight him, but only after leveling to at least level 68. Defeating Azariel is a key step in your journey as you will be able to create gold bars. You will find Azariel the Sunbringer in the west of the Silverlight Hills.

Morian, Stormwing Matriarch (level 68)

What power can be obtained: Void

Unlockable Recipes: Flawless Gems

Morian, Stormwing Matriarch (level 68)

Morian, Matriarch of the Stormwings is a terrible myth for the people of Brighthaven. Another step towards becoming a great vampire. Wields powerful magic, but those who manage to kill the Stormwing matriarch will receive the power of "Void". You will find Morian, Stormwing Matriarch, in the south of the Silverlight Hills.

Terrorclaw the Ogre (level 68)

What power can be obtained: Arctic Jump

Terrorclaw the Ogre (level 68)

Terrorclaw the Ogre looks like a xenomorph that has spent too long in the mountains and has a lot of nasty blisters. Regardless of the true nature of its origin, the Dire Claw is a powerful beast that will destroy low-level players. At level 68 Talon can use his stone body to deal massive damage and appears to be a formidable foe. You will find Ogre in the south of the Sacred Mountains.

Matka, Curseweaver (level 72)

What power can be obtained: Unstable Mosquito

Unlockable recipes: scheme, mosquito

Matka, Curseweaver (level 72)

Presumably one of the oldest witches in the game. The Curseweaver Womb is a truly monstrous creature, which, apparently, is the reason why the Cursed Forest became such. If you're brave enough to take on the Queen and strong enough to defeat her, you can get the ability to summon explosive mosquitoes that stalk your enemies. You will find Matka, the Curseweaver in the northwest of the Cursed Forest.

Marshal of Nightmare Styx the Destroyer (level 76)

What kind of power can be obtained: the form of a bat

Marshal of Nightmare Styx the Destroyer (level 76)

After fighting many holy warriors and beasts, it's time to face another vampire. Marshal of Nightmare, Styx the Destroyer, is a powerful vampire from the time when Dracula lived in Vardoran. Now he wanders alone through the Cursed Forest. If you manage to defeat the vampire, you will receive one of the most coveted abilities of V Rising - the ability to turn into a bat. Classic vampire stuff. You will find Marshal of Nightmare, Styx the Destroyer, in the south of the Cursed Forest.

Gorecrusher the Behemoth (level 78)

What power can be obtained: Dance of the Wisps

Gorecrusher the Behemoth (level 78)

The Gorecrusher the Behemoth may have once been a human, but now appears as a twisted fusion of tree roots and bones imbued with the magical energy of the Cursed Forest. The Behemoth is one of the hardest bosses in V Rising to face at level 78, but the Dance of the Wisps unlock that you get after defeating an enemy is well worth the effort. Casting it twice in a row will fire wisps that reduce damage dealt by nearby enemies for a short time. You will find the Gorecrusher Behemoth in the south of the Cursed Forest.

Winged Horror (Level 78)

What power can be obtained: Ice whirlwind

Winged Horror (Level 78)

Despite appearing in Farbane Forest, the Winged Horror is one of the final bosses in V Rising. At level 78, he has incredible power, but the Ice Vortex ability you get for winning is worth the effort. You can find the Winged Horror, supposedly Dracula's favorite pet, on the eastern edge of Farbane Forest.

Solaris the Immaculate (level 80)

What power can be obtained: the call of the fallen angel

Solaris the Immaculate (level 80)

The final boss of V Rising. At level 80, Solaris is the strongest enemy you will encounter in V Rising at the moment. After that, you can finally consider yourself the ultimate vampire lord. The Solaris Greatblade deals massive damage, which seems fitting for the oldest and most prestigious member of the Temple of Light. You'll find Solaris the Immaculate in a temple east of the Silverlight Hills.

How to find bosses in V Rising

To find the bosses in V Rising, you need to build the Altar of Blood. This requires 180 stones and 10 blood essences, but first, you have to complete the quest "Preparing for the hunt." To complete the task, you need to build and use a sawmill, do the same with a simple workbench, and upgrade equipment to at least level 15.

After that, the blueprint of the Altar of Blood will be available in the "Superiority" section of the "Production" tab in the construction menu. After building the Blood Altar, interact with it to see a list of V Rising bosses. The list is very long, but you will only be able to see those that match the level determined by the current rating of your equipment.

To track the boss, simply select it on the Altar of Blood, then exit the menu and start moving towards the marker. After a few moments, a red beam will appear, which comes from your character and leads straight to the desired boss. He will appear and disappear. Just move in the given direction to find the boss.

It is important to note that although the Altar of Blood only shows the bosses that you are able to fight, almost all opponents appear in the game world as soon as you start the passage. This means that if you venture into the danger zone, you might stumble upon a powerful boss that you can't defeat due to low gear. You can try this, but I recommend escaping and returning here once you're leveled up.
