Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak: How to access the DLC? Requirements and steps

We show you what are the conditions that you must meet in your Monster Hunter Rise game in order to start the Sunbreak expansion; You can only do it after several requirements.

Monster Hunter Rise's massive big expansion titled Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is out now worldwide for PC and Nintendo Switch, but players who want to dive into it are first going to have to meet certain requirements in their base game playthrough ( apart from acquiring the DLC, obviously). If you are already eager to travel to the distant lands of Elgado, pay attention because in this entry of our guide we will tell you what you need to know to be able to start the Sunbreak DLC.

Requirements to start playing Sunbreak

These are the requirements that you must meet to have access to Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak:

  • You must have a copy of Monster Hunter Rise (ie the base game).
  • You also have to buy the expansion individually (obviously, and on the same platform you have your Rise game on).
  • You have to install all game updates so far.
  • Finally, you must have completed at least the 7★ Gathering Room Quest: Goddess of Thunder.

The first requirements are quite obvious, but about the last one, we clarify more details here. The meeting room mission we are referring to is one of the last in the base game, precisely this mission is unlocked in your game first as an urgent mission after completing all the main meeting room missions of the first 7 ranks of hunter.

The Goddess of Thunder quest aims to hunt down the Elder Dragon Narwa of Thunder.

Steps to travel to Elgado

If you already meet all the requirements that we have taught you above, then you will be able to start the Sunbreak expansion in your game and that will take you to travel to the distant lands of Elgado, where this DLC is set:

  • The DLC begins with a pop-up notification telling you that Rondine wants to talk to you at Kamura's entrance.
  • Go talk to the character if you're ready, and then accept the new quest given to you by Minoto (note that starting this quest will cause you to lose access to Kamura for about an hour of gameplay).
  • After accepting the quest you visit the Forgotten Temple area where new strange monsters are appearing. There you can also meet the character of Fiorayne, a knight of the Royal Order.
  • It's time to help investigate why the monsters in the kingdom have become so aggressive and why they are invading other territories.
From here, after completing this hunt, you can start your new adventure and travel to the distant post of Elgado from the main stairs, next to the Kamura forge, where Fugen is.
