Valheim is an action game with survival elements set in Norse mythology. The game has gained incredible popularity on Steam, and still holds a leading position at the top. Although Valheim is currently in early access, it has received a lot of user modifications. We have collected the best of them in this article.
How to install mods on Valheim
The vast majority of modifications for Valheim are installed according to the following algorithm:
- Install the BepInExPack Valheim framework .
- Download the archive with the mod.
- Unzip it to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Valheim\BepInEx\plugins.
If the mod needs to be installed differently, we will say so in the description.
BepInExPack Valheim. Mod Launcher
For many modifications to work, you will need a framework called BepInExPack Valheim. Without the libraries and scripts that it contains, some mods simply won't run. If you decide to do modding, this tool should be installed first.
Installation instructions:
- Download the archive and unzip it.
- Move the BepInExPack Valheim directory to the root folder of the game. By default, it is located at C:Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Valheim.
- Start the game.
Valheim Plus. Fine-tuning the game
This mod allows you to customize various Valheim gameplay options to your liking. With it, you can create new items, change the location of already created ones, adjust the difficulty level, change the characteristics of your hero, and much more.
The installation will be different depending on whether you are playing on someone else's server or on your own.
Installation instruction (for customer):
- Install the BepInExPack Valheim framework .
- Download the WindowsClient.zip archive.
- Extract it to the root folder with the game, which by default is located at C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonValheim.
- Open the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Valheim\BepInEx\config directory and locate the valheim_plus.cfg file. It needs to be run with a text editor. In it you can adjust the game settings.
Installation instructions (for the server):
- Install the BepInExPack Valheim framework .
- Download the WindowsServer.zip archive.
- Unzip it to the Valheim dedicated server folder where the dedicated server files are located. Its location depends on where you unpacked Steamcmd.
- Open the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Valheim\BepInEx\config directory and run the valheim_plus.cfg file. In it you can adjust the game settings.
Equipment and Quick Slots. Convenient inventory
This modification gives equipped items separate places in the inventory and adds 3 slots for hotkeys. Please note: the modification may damage the armor. Before installation, it is advisable to completely undress your hero.
More Slot. Additional lines in the inventory
If you do not have enough space in your inventory, use this modification. By default, it will add 16 new cells. You can increase this number if you wish. To do this, open the moreslots.cfg file located in the C:\Program Files (x86)Steam\steamapps\common\Valheim\BepInEx\config folder.
Craft Build Smelt Cook Fuel Pull From Containers. Convenient craft
This mod allows you to use all the items that are in nearby containers during crafting and not just those that are in your inventory. The modification will be especially useful in the later stages of the game.
clock. Hours in Valheim
The time of day in Valheim has to be determined by eye. This mod allows you to fix this shortcoming, which adds a clock to the game. You can choose the color and location of the numbers, as well as replace them with text. In this case, instead of the exact time, you will see an inscription, for example, “early evening” (early evening). You can configure the time display using the aedenthorn.ClockMod.cfg file, which is located in the C:\Program Files (x86)Steam\steamapps\common\Valheim\BepInEx\config folder.
BetterUI. Improved interface
You can customize the interface in Valheim to your liking with this modification. After installing the mod and launching the game, a new file will appear in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamappsvcommonvValheim\BepInEx\config directory. With it, you can bring the interface to mind.
AutoMapPins. Automatic designation of ore veins
The search for ore in Valheim is blind. But after installing this modification, all veins with minerals will be indicated on the map. Please note that the icons are displayed only within a certain area near you.
Unrestricted Portals. Improved Portals
Some items, such as dragon eggs, cannot be carried through portals in Valheim. This limitation can be removed with this mod. In addition, the modification allows you to set multipliers for items. Thanks to them, when passing through the portal, the number of these items will be increased several times.
By default, the mod allows you to simply carry all prohibited items through portals, without a multiplier. If you want to install it, you need to go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Valheim\BepInEx\plugin\Unrestricted Portals\Configuration directory. The settings are in the General.txt file, and the item names are in the Items.txt document.
Simple Recycling. Item Recycling
A mod that allows you to disassemble various items (weapons, tools) into components and return the resources that were spent on their creation. An item called Recycle will appear in the workbench menu.
map sync. Map synchronization
This mod will allow you to show the map to other players who are on the same server as you. Thanks to this, your friends will see all the notes that you have. To do this, simply press the F10 key. Please note that the mod is not a server mod - each player must install it himself.
First-person view. First-person view
A modification that allows you to play Valheim with a first-person view. To activate this mode, press the key that is responsible for the approach.
BuildShare (AdvancedBuilding) - Valheim. Saving and loading buildings
This mod allows you to save the constructed buildings and load them elsewhere, as well as clear the area from any buildings.
Installation:
- Download the INSlimVML mod installer and extract it.
- Transfer files from INSlimVML directory to game folder C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonValheim
- Download the archive with the modification and unzip it.
- Move the files to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Valheim\INSlimVML\Mods.
How to use this mod?
- Start the game and load your save.
- Open the mod menu. To do this, click on the icon labeled BuildShare in the upper right corner of the screen.
- To save a building, stand next to it, select Save, and set the radius of the zone to be saved (for example, 100). Enter a name for it.
- To place a building somewhere else on the map, click on the Build icon and enter the name of your building. Use the Toggle feature to see how the building will look in the game world.
- You can also destroy all buildings within a given radius using the Destroy item.
Loot Multiplier. Item Multiplier
This mod allows you to increase the number of items that you will receive when killing monsters or during the extraction of resources.
After installing the mod and launching the game for the first time, the castix_LootMultiplier.cfg file will appear in the C:\Program Files(x86)SteamsteamappscommonValheimBepInEx BepInExconfig folder. With it, you can set multipliers for various items in the game.
Better Archery. Improved Archery
This mod introduces a number of changes to the mechanics associated with archery. Arrow flight physics will be improved and you will be able to zoom in before shooting. In addition, you will have a chance to find a shot arrow intact and return it to your inventory.
Ivy's Texture Pack. Graphics improvements
If you are not satisfied with the graphics quality in Valheim, you can improve it with a set of high-quality textures. The game will not look like an AAA-class project, but the picture will be nicer.
Installation instructions:
- Install the BepInExPack Valheim framework .
- Install the Custom Textures modification according to the standard scheme.
- Download the archive from Ivy's Texture Pack.
- Go to C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Valheim\BepInEx\plugins and create a Custom Textures directory.
- Move the unpacked files with the mod into it.
Epic Loot. Additional Items
This mod adds dozens of new magic items to the game. With their help, you will receive useful bonuses for your character or equipment. After installing the mod, items can be knocked out of animals or monsters. The more difficult the enemy, the higher the chance to get a rare and valuable item.
farmgrid. Simplified farming
After installing this modification, a grid will appear during planting. It indicates the area that each seedling needs for optimal growth.
Plant Everything. Additional farming opportunities
This modification expands the list of plants that can be planted with a cultivator. In addition, the mod removes a number of restrictions. For example, you can plant plants in any biome in the game.
Better Trader. Increased range of goods at the merchant
This mod expands the number of products that are available for purchase. Among them are both standard items from the original game, and those that were added in the Epic Loot modification.
auto fuel. Automatic use of fuel and ore
This upgrade allows Fireplaces to automatically pick up firewood from the ground and nearby storage areas within a 5m radius when needed. In addition, your smelters will extract ore and fuel for smelting themselves. A very useful mod that will save a lot of time and also allow you to stay away from home longer.
Use Equipment in Water. Use of equipment while swimming
This simple modification can be useful in certain situations. While in the water, the hero cannot pick up weapons or use items. The upgrade allows you to use all available items in your inventory when your character is swimming or underwater.
Trash Items. Simplified item destruction
The most common problem in the game is the garbage that remains after the attack of monsters. For example, skeleton bones or other unnecessary items will be constantly scattered around your house or in chests. This mod adds a basket to the game for the destruction of various things. In one of the latest updates, the developers also added a special Obliterator device that can be used as an incinerator.
Valheim Legends. Character classes
Many RPGs have implemented the mechanics of choosing the initial characteristics and skills of the main character. This feature is now available in Valheim. The game will have 12 different classes for your hero. For example, the Ranger will be able to summon wolves to help, and the Monk will be able to summon a meteor shower.
SkToolbox - Console Admin and Chat Functionality Extender. Server administrator advanced features
With this mod, the server admin will be able to change certain features of the game. For example, modify the terrain - and it doesn't matter if cheats are enabled or not.
QuickStack. Simplified transfer of items to containers
A simple mod that will save a lot of time in the later stages of the game. It allows you to transfer all your items from your inventory to the nearest storage with a single keystroke.
