Walkthrough V Rising - Farbane Forest (Farbane Forests)

Step-by-step guide for passing the first region of the game: from finding resources to destroying the first bosses

Becoming the supreme ruler of vampires in V Rising is not an easy task. You will take the first steps towards this goal in the forests of Farbane, unlocking new equipment, killing the first carriers of V-blood, trying to create your own castle, and hiring the first servants. Follow our step-by-step walkthrough to understand how to develop properly in the first stage of the game.

Collecting the bones

Upon awakening from sleep, you will be tasked with collecting 30 bones. Collect bones by breaking vases and defeating skeletons. You will need 230 bones to craft the Bone Guard equipment and weapons, which are needed for the first quests. Therefore, collect as many bones as possible. Bones are a useful crafting ingredient, and the more you get, the easier it will be in the future.

Collecting the bones

Complete the set objectives by defeating enemies and using abilities until you get to the "Bone Armor" quest. Here you will be tasked with crafting the Bone Guard equipment, which requires animal skin. To get an animal skin, hunt deer or wolves outside the training area. Collect at least 60 animal skins to craft gloves and boots, and the remaining skins will be used in subsequent tasks.

While hunting, you will notice that you can feed on weakened enemies. Feeding them the blood will give a specific blood type depending on the opponent. Each blood type provides different bonuses. You can also use a special ability to quickly execute an opponent. Use feeding and left-clicking to quickly defeat an enemy without taking over their blood type. The essence of blood from opponents will come in handy later. Even if some resources seem useless, collect them anyway - they will come in handy in the future.

Gathering wood and stones

Once you've crafted the Bone Guard outfit, craft a Bone Ax to chop down trees and a Bone Mace to smash rocks. Each resource has a specific tool that will speed up the collection process. So, use axes for trees and maces for minerals. Can collect more than necessary, because soon you will need a lot of wood and stone.

Gathering wood and stones

Laying the foundation of the castle

Now that you have learned how to collect resources, it's time to lay the foundation of the castle and create the Heart of the castle (240 units of stone and 30 units of blood essence). For convenience, we suggest building in an area located closer to the middle of Farbane Forest, but if you are used to thinking ahead, we recommend placing the Heart of the Castle somewhere closer to the center of the map. This will complicate the beginning of your journey but will help in the future.

After building the heart of the castle, place 3 borders. Borders expand your territory and determine where you and your clan members can build/place items. Start by placing borders around the heart of the castle. Place 3 Palisades, Wooden Coffin, and Wooden Stash (570 Planks and 90 Plant Fibers). Don't worry too much about the stockades, as we'll be replacing them with something better soon.

Build a sawmill (400 planks and 80 stones). We recommend creating two sawmills to speed up the process of making boards. Place the remaining wood in the sawmills to create planks. Keep the wood at the sawmills for the next few in-game days, as it will take a lot of planks later on to furnish the entire castle. Use 8 Planks, 80 Stones, and 120 Animal Skins to craft a Basic Workbench.

Use the Basic Workbench to craft an Enhanced Bone Guard Gear using existing Bone Guard Gear and 240 Animal Skins. Upgrade your weapons by crafting armored bone weapons. One enhanced bone weapon requires the corresponding bone weapon, 4 planks, and 120 stones. We suggest starting with axes and maces to speed up the resource-gathering process.

Laying the foundation of the castle

Kill the alpha wolf

Create a blood altar (180 stones and 10 blood essences). The Altar of Blood allows you to track V-Blood Carriers, bosses that will grant you new abilities and/or recipes when defeated. The first V-Blood to be encountered in the game is the Alpha Wolf, which can be found in the Wolf's Lair. Interact with the Blood Altar and track the Alpha Wolf to help you get to the Lair.

When tracking, a red trail periodically appears on the screen. Follow the trail and eventually, you will see the Alpha Wolf. Collect the following resources along the way: Coarse Thread, Cloth, Grindstone, Grave Dust, Pure Hearts, and Ruthless Equipment Blueprints. You will need them later, and by collecting them now, you will make your task easier in the future.

Defeat the Alpha Wolf to complete the quest line and unlock the "Wolf Form" ability, which allows you to transform into a wolf, and increases your movement speed by 45%.

We recommend tracking down and hunting all bosses so that their level roughly matches the level of your equipment. Don't take too long, as destroying them will unlock the recipes and abilities you need to progress further.

Upgrading the Heart of the Castle

Craft a Research Table (8 Planks, 120 Animal Skins, and 80 Stones). Then you will be able to open recipes to improve equipment and the castle. You can use 50 sheets of paper to unlock any recipe you haven't learned yet, but be sure to save 40 sheets for later.

You will need 12 copper ingots and 12 leather to upgrade the Castle Heart. To get copper ingots, you need to collect copper ore (orange stone). Copper Ore can be found at the Bandit Copper Mine, located near the center of Farbane Forest, or at various points in Vardoran.

Upgrading the Heart of the Castle

It is recommended to go to the mines at night, as the outer edge is open to sunlight and there are enemies outside. Beware of Errol Stonebreaker, a level 20 boss in the center of the mine. We suggest collecting at least 1180 units of copper ore to build a furnace and crusher, improve the heart of the castle, craft two copper weapons and create a coffin for servants. If you want to create multiple processing stations, collect about 100 more units of copper ore for each additional station.

When you're done collecting, build a furnace (480 stone and 60 copper ore). Once you have processed copper in the furnace into copper ingots, create the desired weapon. This weapon will increase the level of equipment to 20. And this is the recommended level for fighting against the ice archer Kaylie. Track down Kaylee through the Altar of Blood or head to the location marked on the map below.

While hunting for Kaylie, collect all the grindstones, as this is a necessary ingredient to create a crusher. If you have enough whetstone, build and place a grinder before hunting Kaylee. Place the stone inside the crusher to produce a stone brick, which you will need later.

After defeating Kaylee, head home and build a tannery (8 planks and 160 animal skins) and use it to craft leather. You will need 192 animal skins to create the 12 skins needed to upgrade the heart of the castle. Upgrade the Heart of the Castle.

Upgrade your armor with the leftover leather. Craft a Traveler's Cape (4 Fabrics and 4 Leathers) and a full set of Nightstalker Armor (24 Leathers and 16 Coarse Threads). If you don't have enough cloth or coarse thread, you can find them in small bandit camps scattered throughout the forest.

Building a castle

I hope you have enough whetstones to build a crusher. If not, collect some more. Search chests and break boxes and barrels to find whetstones. After finding at least 4 grindstones, create a grinding machine at the base and start the production of stone bricks. Once you have enough stone bricks to build walls, start building the castle.

Note. You may need to move your wooden coffin outside the castle because it can't be placed on floors. After you create an enclosed room (walls and floor), the roof should automatically form.

Since you probably don't want to sleep outside, you'll have to craft your own stone coffin (20 stone bricks and 6 grave dust). If you don't have enough Grave Dust, you can craft it at the grinder using 100 bones, or find it in various locations.

Building a castle

We hire the first servants

To build a Coffin for a Servant, you will need 16 Planks, 8 Copper Ingots, and 1 Greater Blood Essence. Greater Blood Essence can be crafted in a Blood Press using four Flawless Hearts. Flawless Hearts can be found randomly by killing any living enemy (not a skeleton). Once you've created Greater Blood Essence, craft a Coffin for the Servants and start the hunt.

To turn any human into a servant, lower their health to the minimum and use the vampire's Dominant Presence ability. The higher the quality of the servant's blood, the higher his efficiency will be. After successfully enchanting a person, escort him to your castle, protecting him from any damage. Interact with the Servant's Coffin and confirm the recruitment of a new Servant for 100 Blood Essence. The process of enslavement (turning a person into a servant) takes about an hour and a half. To control the servants, you need to create a throne in the castle (24 stone bricks, 16 iron ingots and 4 great blood essences).

We collect iron

To unlock the iron ingots, you need to defeat the Quincy King of Thieves, the boss of the 37th level. To do this, you need to upgrade your equipment and defeat Clive the Pyro, the boss of the 30th level, and after that, stock up on strength and go to Quincy.

First, upgrade your gear to the merciless variant. I hope by now you have found the appropriate recipes. If not, you'll have to find recipes by defeating enemies, looting chests, and destroying breakable items in camps. You can also use 50 sheets of paper to unlock a random recipe that you don't already have. This requires a research table, which we wrote about above.

To create a complete set of merciless armor, you will need 12 pieces of leather, 12 pieces of coarse thread, and 24 copper ingots. To create one Merciless Copper Weapon, you will need the appropriate Copper Weapon, 2 Rough Gems, 6 Grindstones, and 3 Leather. Rough gemstones can be knocked out of stones and gemstone veins, which look like large piles with gemstones protruding from the surface. Each weapon requires certain raw gems:

  • Ruthless Copper Sword: Rough Sapphire.
  • Ruthless Copper Axe: Rough Ruby.
  • Ruthless Copper Mace: Rough Topaz.
  • Ruthless Copper Spear: Rough Emerald.
  • Merciless Hunter's Crossbow: Precious Dust (Defeat Rufus the Brigadier, Level 20 Boss to unlock).
We collect iron

Craft a magical trinket (1 Essence of Greater Blood, 3 Rough Gems, and 6 Grave Dust) to complete your gear. Each accessory needs its own raw gems:

  • Amber chain: raw emerald.
  • Ice Eye: Rough Sapphire.
  • Ring of the Dusk Guard: Rough Topaz.
  • Mist Ring: A raw misty stone.

Once you've upgraded your gear, track down Clive the Pyro through the Altar of Blood. After defeating Clive the Firestarter, mine at least 360 Sulfur Ore from the mine. Return to your castle and smelt the sulfur ore in the furnace. Then create an alchemist's table (100 units of blood essence, 16 planks and 12 units of sulfur). On the alchemy table, create a small explosive (6 units of sulfur, 6 planks and 3 whetstones). It will come in handy in order to blow up the gates of the bandit fortress, on the territory of which the Quincy lives.

Use the bloody altar to track down the Quincy Bandit King, deal with the guards at the entrance to the fortress and plant explosives at the gate. Attack explosives to initiate an explosion. We recommend that you fight Quincy at night, as there will be a lot of sunlight in the boss arena. Next, you can fight other V-bloods or visit the Danlí farmlands to collect even more iron.
