 In Disney Dreamlight Valley you will meet a wide variety of characters from the Disney universe. However, not all of them are in your valley at the start of the game. At this point, we will show you how you can unlock all characters and give an outlook on the next updates with new characters.

Unlock all characters in Disney Dreamlight Valley

In Disney Dreamlight Valley you can give well-known characters from Disney and Pixar films a new home and complete missions for them. For this, they reward you with various furniture and items of clothing from their respective film universes. Since the game is still in the Early Access phase, however, only a fraction of the characters are currently represented in the game.

There are currently 17 characters in the game. Below we list them all for you and give information on how to unlock them:


  • Merlin (The Witch and the Wizard): Merlin welcomes you to the Valley and acts as your guide through your first few hours in the game. Stick with him to advance the main story.
  • WALL-E (WALL-E): Opens the left door on the first floor of Dream Castle for 3,000 Dreamlight to meet WALL-E.
  • Maui (Vaiana): Open the middle door on the first floor of Dream Castle for 3,000 Dreamlight to meet Maui.
  • Moiana (Moiana): Open the middle door on the ground floor of Dream Castle for 3,000 Dreamlight to meet Moiana.
  • Remy (Ratatouille): Open the right door on the ground floor of Dream Castle for 3,000 Dreamlight to meet Remy.
  • Ariel (The Little Mermaid): Follow Goofy's mission "The Mysterious Wreck" to unlock Ariel. To start the quest, you need to pick up the mysterious paddle on the small island to the southeast of Dazzling Beach.
  • Prince Erik (The Little Mermaid): Follow Goofy's mission "The Mysterious Wreck" to unlock Ariel. Then complete Ursula's final quest "A Deal with Ursula" to start Erik's quest Poor Prince in Distress, during which you can unlock Erik.
  • Ursula (The Little Mermaid): Pursue Merlin's story quest "With Great Power..." to unlock Ursula as you progress.
  • Anna (Frozen - Totally Unabashed): Open the middle door on the 1st floor of Dream Castle for 4,000 Dreamlight to meet Anna.
  • Elsa (Frozen - Totally Unabashed): Open the middle door on the 1st floor of Dream Castle for 4,000 Dreamlight to meet Elsa.
  • Kristoff (Frozen - Totally Unabashed): Unlocks the Forest of Valor east of the main square for 3,000 Dreamlight to start Kristoff's story quest Lost in the Darkened Grove.
  • Mother Gothel (Rapunzel - Tangled): Complete Kristoff's "Lost in the Dark Grove" story quest to start Mother Gothel's "The Curse" story quest.
  • Scrooge (Micky and Friends): Scrooge is in the Valley from the start. Talk to him in front of his shop in the main square.
  • Donald Duck (Mickey and Friends): Unlocks the Forest of Valor east of Main Square for 3,000 Dreamlight to start Kristoff's Lost in the Darkened Grove story quest. During the quest, you will meet Donald.
  • Goofy (Mickey and Friends): Go to the peaceful meadow south of the main square. This is where Goofy mostly fishes or is in his house.
  • Mickey Mouse (Mickey and Friends): Mickey is in the Valley from the start. Speak to him at his house in the main square.
  • Minnie Mouse (Mickey and Friends): Follow Mickey's quests and increase your friendship with him to level 8. You can then start his "Memory Boost" mission, during which you will unlock Minnie as a resident.

Next updates with new characters

You will unlock most of the new characters in future updates through the portals in the Dream Castle. Only four such portals are active so far, but more than 30 portals are already visible here. So you can get ready for a lot of updates.


The next new characters will be Scar from The Lion King and Woody and Buzz Lightyear from the "Toy Story" universe, which are expected to make their way into the game in autumn 2022. 


Scar will probably enter your village with an update around mid-October. The developers have already published a picture with the planned content for the near future on Twitter.

You can expect the following characters in the near future, as they have already been spotted on screenshots, artwork, and in trailers:


  • Toy Story (Woody, Buzz Lightyear)
  • König der Löwen (Simba, Scar, Timon, Pumbaa)
  • Beauty and the Beast (Beast, Belle)
  • Cinderella (Cinderella)
  • The Ice King - Totally Unabashed (Olaf)
  • Ralf is enough (Randale-Ralph, Vanellope von Schweetz)
  • Die Monster AG (Sully)
  • Lilo & Stitch (Stitch)

List of desired characters

The following movies featuring Disney characters from Pixar have not yet been confirmed but may well be adapted for the game in the distant future. Sometimes you will already find items of clothing and furniture from these films in the game.
