On November 9, God of War: Ragnarök was released on the last two generations of PlayStation consoles. The story picks up where it left off in 2018's God of War after Kratos and Atreus discover a fresco in Jotunheim that depicts the journey that father and son have made so far, as well as a grim prognosis for the coming years. . In an attempt to change his future, Atreus cooperates with Odin in an attempt to find fragments of a magical mask created by the Jotuns. Odin believes that this mask will give him omniscience of the past, present, and future, allowing him to peer into a shimmering rift located in a cave below his library. While searching for the last piece of the mask in Helheim, Atreus sets off a chain of events that culminates in all the worlds uniting to confront Asgard, led by Kratos, Atreus, and Freya.
