Google Stadia: This is how you get your money back

Google Stadia will be shut down soon, but of course, it's understandable that many users are asking questions. Certainly, the most important question for all subscribers is related to the reimbursement of costs. Below we explain how you get your money back.

Google Stadia: This is how you get your money back

Google Stadia will soon be a thing of the past. The Stadia servers will be shut down on January 18, 2023. The platform and game server will remain online until this date.

Google Stadia refund - how to get your money back

The good news first: Google is offering refunds for all your Stadia product purchases (Stadia controllers, etc.) made on the Google Store, as well as software purchases made through the Stadia Store. There's bad news, though: Stadia Pro subscriptions are non-refundable.

Beginning November 9, 2022, Google will attempt to automatically process refunds for all games, DLC, and subscription fees (excluding Stadia Pro) purchased through the Stadia Store.

All customers are asked to be patient while we process each transaction. The whole process will probably take some time. You should wait until the shutdown date (01/18/2023) before contacting Google Support for a refund. Unfortunately, the Google support team cannot expedite your refund.

It works in such a way that the refund is automatically posted back to you via the payment method you used. But what happens if you no longer have this means of payment? If this is the case for you, Google will send you an email with instructions on how to choose a new payment method, which will then give you your money back.

By the way, you don't have to return most hardware purchases that you made directly from Google. Again, it says that the refund should take place automatically.

Important note: Apparently you don't have to take any action to get your refund. Actually, you should get your money refunded automatically. Nevertheless, you should keep an eye on your account to see if this is actually the case. If you haven't received anything by January 19, 2023, you should contact Google Support.
