How to get stable 60 FPS in a new action game about cowboys and vampires
Evil West is well suited for those who yearn for simple and understandable, but spectacular and driving adventures in the spirit of Gears of War and Devil May Cry. Even the graphics and level design in the game is reminiscent of the mid-2010s at best. Fortunately, the system requirements also convey greetings from those times - Evil West is able to run even the GTX 1060 at maximum settings with a stable 60 FPS.
But not everyone has such a video card, and many still play on laptops with an entry-level graphics adapter. Especially for owners of weak PCs, we have analyzed the Evil West graphics settings with tips for optimizing them.
What kind of computer is needed for Evil West (system requirements)
Official minimum system requirements (1080p @ 30 FPS, low preset):

Graphics settings in Evil West / how to increase FPS (frame rate) in the game
- "Window". Ideally, it is better to choose full-screen mode so that the maximum resources are used for the game itself, without maintaining the desktop. But if you need to periodically move the mouse cursor to another monitor, then full-screen borderless windowed mode will do.
- "Permission". Here you should always set the native resolution of your display. For monitors, this is most often 1920x1080 or 2560x1440. And for modern TVs - 3840x2160.
- "Vertical Synchronization". You can turn it on if you play with a gamepad. So the video sequence will become as smooth as possible, but the input delay will increase (this is imperceptible on the gamepad). And if you play with the keyboard and mouse, then it is better to use the following parameter.
- "Restriction f / s." You can limit the FPS to 30 or 60 to make your footage smoother without increasing input lag, and at the same time reduce the load on the processor. If your CPU does not allow the video card to render many frames, then it is worth limiting the number of frames per second.
- Resolution scaling. The game has the ability to take advantage of more advanced methods than simply lowering the render resolution. Leave the value here at 100%.
- "Visual range". There are not many spacious locations in Evil West, so lowering this parameter to the middle will increase FPS without much harm to beauty.
- "Smoothing". On older video cards, it is better to lower the quality of anti-aliasing to medium or lower, and on modern video cards, you can set it to the maximum.
- "Post-processing". Similar to the previous setting.
- "Shadows". The most demanding setting in the game. However, to avoid artifacts, a quality of at least average is recommended.
- "Textures". If you have little video memory (less than 4 gigabytes), then set the quality to medium. At 4 gigabytes, a high one will do. And at 6 - epic.
- "Effects". Explosions, sparks, and other special effects. So that FPS does not sag in particularly dynamic battles, it is better to lower it to medium or even low.
- "Vegetation". The quality (and quantity) of grass and foliage on trees. True, there is not much vegetation in the game. Set to medium or high quality.
- "Motion blur". Can serve as motion smoothing for unstable frame rates. It’s worth adjusting by eye, if you don’t like the effect, turn it off. Doesn't affect performance.
- NVIDIA DLSS / AMD FSR. Advanced upscaling and using neural networks. Owners of the latest GeForce generations can take advantage of DLSS, which is slightly better in terms of picture quality and gives better performance. Everyone else can try AMD FSR in Quality mode.
