Corey Barlog commented on the announcement of the series God of War on Prime Video

On the back of the success of God of War Ragnarok, the God of War series was announced yesterday. Commissioned by Amazon Prime Video, an adaptation about the adventures of Kratos in the Scandinavian kingdom of Midgard, where he got after setting fire to Greece and killing the Olympians.

The launch date, production timeline, and actors who will play the iconic characters created by Santa Monica Studio have yet to be announced, but Prime Video has already confirmed that Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby (Iron Man, Child of Man) have been assigned to write the script, and Rafe Judkins (Wheel of Time) will take over as showrunner. The three will also serve as executive producers alongside PlayStation Productions' Asad Kyzylbash and Carter Swan, Vertigo's Roy Lee, and Santa Monica Studio's Yumi Yan and Corey Barlog.

Barlog, well-known to gamers, could not help but comment on the news on his personal Twitter profile. God of War (2018) game director and God of War producer Ragnarok assured that the series is in the hands of a great team, even if we have to wait a bit for launch:

“I am working on a series with a really fantastic team. Can't wait for you to see more, but it will take some time. Until then, act like you haven't heard about it."

We'll have to wait a long time before we can see Kratos on the small screen, but Corey Barlog's enthusiasm, to whom we owe the revival and new successes of the series, can only inspire optimism.
