Epic Games to pay $520 million for misleading Fortnite players

Epic Games will pay $520 million after settling a lawsuit with the US Federal Trade Commission. The company has been accused of violating children's online privacy laws and defrauding millions of players into making unintentional purchases due to Fortnite's controversial refund system and design.

$245 million of the amount will be split between the FTC and the battle royale players, who will receive the money as compensation.

In court, Epic said it had already changed the mechanics of the Fortnite in-game store. Now you can choose to save payment data or not. At the same time, the player is asked several times if he is ready to make a purchase. The user can also cancel an already completed purchase.
