2023 is just around the corner and JRPG fans can look forward to numerous new RPGs. These include big blockbusters like Final Fantasy 16. In this series of photos, however, we are primarily concentrating on the smaller to medium-sized JRPGs. There is something for every taste!

These JRPGs will be released next year

2023 will be an exciting year for JRPG fans! After all, a real JRPG swordweight will appear next summer with Final Fantasy 16. But that should not distract from the many small role-playing pearls that will also come onto the market in 2023. From old-school JRPGs to fast-paced action role-playing games, there's pretty much everything a fan's heart desires:

Octopath Traveler 2

Release: February 24, 2023 (PS4/PS5/XSX/Switch/Steam)

For fans of the first part, the sequel is of course a no-brainer. With Octopath Traveler 2, a classic JRPG with a pixel look awaits you again. The trick: You don't experience the extensive story from one but from several perspectives.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure

Release: March 14, 2023 (PS4/PS5/XSX/Switch/Steam)

The popular "The Legend of Heroes" series will also be continued in 2023 with Trails of Azure. If you like old-school RPGs from the PSP era, you can't avoid this pearl. By the way, The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Reverie will be released in summer 2023.

Stellar Blade

Release: 2023 (PS5/Steam)

If you liked Nier: Automata, Stellar Blade might be the game for you. The action RPG combines lightning-fast combat with an emotional story and will be released next year as a console exclusive for the PlayStation 5.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes

Release: January 26, 2023 (PS5/PS4/XSX/Switch/Steam)

Probably only old hands remember the Suikoden series. Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is the brand's spiritual reboot. So, JRPG fans can expect a global storyline and plenty of heroes to collect.

Suikoden 1 and 2 remasters

Speaking of Suikoden: A remaster bundle of the first two Suikoden parts will also be released in 2023. This is especially worthwhile for the second part, which is generally considered one of the best JRPGs of all time. Perfect for newcomers!

You love the chibi look and prefer to play with friends? Then you should keep an eye on Trinity Trigger. The JRPG will be released next spring for the PlayStation 4, the PlayStation 5, and the Nintendo Switch.

Sword Art Online; Last Recollection

Release: 2023 (PS5/PS4/XSX/Steam)

Fans of Sword Art Online will also get their money's worth next year! With Last Recollection, the popular light novel gets another video game. Look forward to an action-packed reunion with Kirito, Asuna, and Alice.

Like a Dragon: Ishin!

The Yakuza series enters the next round! This time, the role-playing game doesn't take you to modern Tokyo, but to feudal Japan. This is a whole new experience, at least for western fans! With One Piece Odyssey, anime and manga fans will experience a tangible role-playing game in the One-Piece universe for the first time. This includes a turn-based combat system, random battles, and level mechanics. Anyone who loves classic JRPGs like Dragon Quest should keep an eye on this game,

Granblue Fantasy: Relink

Release: 2023 (PS5/PS4/Steam)

After several postponements, Granblue Fantasy: Relink should finally be released next year. The action role-playing game has been in development for over six years. If you want to sweeten the waiting time until the release a bit, you can watch the accompanying anime.

Labyrinth of Galleria: The Moon Society

Release: February 13, 2023 (PS5/PS4/Switch/Steam)
