In an early scene where Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy visit a dimension that appears to be inhabited by dozens of Spider-Man, Spider-Man can be seen wearing the original costume from the PS4 game Insomniac.
It's not yet clear if this Spider-Man will play a bigger role in the cartoon or just make a cameo appearance. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is the sequel to the popular animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
The film, starring Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld, is scheduled to be released in theaters in June 2023.
Spider-Man 2 is still scheduled for release in 2023, Insomniac Games recently confirmed. Insomniac's official Twitter account responded to a post in which fans speculated about why the game hadn't received a second trailer since it was originally announced.
After some raised concerns that the game would not release in the planned 2023, Insomniac stepped in to allay their fears.
Don't worry. We are making good progress and the game is scheduled for 2023. Showcasing games takes time, effort, resources, and coordination.
Insomniac Games is also working on a Wolverine game for PS5. According to the studio, the game will be a standalone game and will be directed by Brian Horton and Cameron Christian, who led the production of Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
"While Marvel's Wolverine is in its early stages of development, judging from the emotional storytelling and cutting-edge gameplay, the team is already building something truly special," said Ryan Schneider, head of the strategy for the Insomniac franchise.
