"This money is better spent on games": according to Microsoft analysts, the deal with Activision should be abandoned
At the beginning of this year, it became known about the largest transaction in the gaming industry, the result of which was to be the merger of Activision and Microsoft. The giant Microsoft was supposed to buy Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion, but due to regulatory scrutiny and litigation, the merger may not be completed soon. A group of analysts from the Seeking Alpha site believe that companies should abandon the deal and direct resources to their profile - the creation of games.
Experts came to this conclusion after a careful study of the games market and the transaction price. In their opinion, the amount of 68.7 billion dollars is greatly overestimated, especially against the backdrop of almost failed Blizzard projects. By and large, the company has only one consistently profitable series and that is Call of Duty. According to analysts, even a series of shooters is now not at its peak and its cost will be much lower than announced.
Analysts believe that the best solution for Microsoft would be to abandon the deal with Activision Blizzard. The corporation runs the risk of losing the court and failing to pass the inspection of the relevant regulator. Instead of spending your time and money on dubious showdowns with antitrust authorities, Microsoft should spend it on games and its own services, experts say.
