One of the most important novelties of the Dead Space remake is the secret ending to be unlocked in New Game +. Here's how it works.
The Dead Space remake has a secret ending that didn't exist in the original game, and you're probably wondering how to unlock it. EA Motive's title is full of additions to one of the best survival horror games ever. All you have to do is get to the original ending, where you will see a series of completely new features open up.
HOW TO UNLOCK THE SECRET ENDING | DEAD SPACE REMAKE
Once you complete Dead Space for the first time, you'll unlock the New Game+ mode, which allows you to carry all weapons and power-ups with you from the start of the game, where you'll also face new variations of enemies.
In addition to fighting more powerful enemies, there are also 12 Mark Shards that you will need to collect if you want to trigger the secret ending.
WHERE TO FIND SHARDS OF THE MARK
Below, you can find out where to find all Shards of the Mark, as well as the chapters in which they are available. Don't worry if you miss any, though, as you can always do some backtracking using the tram. Only thing to watch out for: don't start Chapter 12 until you have them all.
- Mark Fragment #1: found in the Tram Transport System in Chapter 1, in a library in the Maintenance Bridge office
- Marking Shard #2: Available upon reaching Chapter 2. Instead of a bookcase, this time you'll find it hidden in Dr. Kyne's office in the Research Wing on the Medical Deck
- Branding Shard #3: In Chapter 3, you can find this Branding Shard in the Engine Room on the Technical Deck, behind Power Substation 03
- Mark Shard #4: Once you reach Chapter 4, head to the Break Room on the Bridge
- Marking Fragment #5: Available from Chapter 5 onwards, this fragment is near an operations table in Dr. Mercer's office in the ER on the Science/Medical Bridge
- Marking Fragment #6: You can get this fragment after the previous one in Chapter 5, at the top of the cryo room in the Cryo Lab on the Medical Deck
- Marking Shard #7: in Chapter 6, you can get it as soon as you meet the Wheezers, hidden in the East Refrigeration Room next to Wheezer 6 in Hydroponics
- Marking Fragment #8: In Chapter 7, once Access Level 3 is unlocked, go to Mining Operations on the Mining Bridge
- Marking Fragment #9: found inside the Communications Mast on the Bridge during Chapter 8
- Mark Shard #10: In the Deluxe Shift Bunks on the Crew Deck during Chapter 10
- Marking Fragment #11: Also in Chapter 10 on the Crew Deck, you can find this fragment on a table in the Inquiry Desk room
- Marking Fragment #12: The last Marking Fragment can be found in Chapter 11 of the Cargo Hold
