How to activate the console line and use cheats in The Witcher 3

To use console commands in The Witcher 3, you first need to activate the console line. Follow the steps below, it will be done in seconds.

  1. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to The Witcher 3 folder.
  2. Alternatively, launch Steam and right-click on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in the client's library. Select the section "Management" and the option "Browse local files". The result will be the same as in the first step - the explorer will open with a folder containing the game files.
  3. Locate the bin\config\base directory, navigate to it, and open the general.ini text file with Notepad++ or regular Notepad. The approximate address where the file is located looks like this: Steam\steamapps\common\The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\bin\config\base. For "lovers" of pirated games (our portal does not support such actions) - Games\The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt GOTY\bin\config\base.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the files, press Enter to create a new line, and type DBGConsoleOn=true (the one in bold).
  5. Save changes and close the file.
  6. Launch The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt by any means.
  7. Now you can easily open or close the console prompt by pressing the ~ or F2 key.
It remains to enter the desired console command and press Enter to make changes to the game.
