The most anticipated games of 2023 on PS4 and PS5

The New Year is a time of hope and expectation. This is true not only in everyday life but also in the gaming industry. The past 2022 was not rich in hits. Elden Ring, God of War: Ragnarok, and a couple of other projects - that's all that an unprepared gamer will remember. But 2023 promises to be very different. We are waiting for a rich selection of projects for every taste, many of which fans have been waiting for years. Especially for this top, we have collected the most anticipated games of 2023 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. There will be a lot of gifts from Santa Claus!

Forspoken

  • Release Date: January 24
  • Publisher: Square Enix
Forspoken

A nuclear medley of Horizon Forbidden West, Monster Hunter, and Marvel's Spider-Man will release in January. The game still raises a lot of questions because of the incomprehensible gameplay and too much bias towards the open world in the best traditions of Ubisoft.

Nevertheless, the creators are confident in success, and the plot looks at least amusing. A lot of magical abilities promise a good variety, and the graphics surprise even in the screenshots.

It would be nice if the open world was not an empty decoration

As befits a teenage fantasy, Frey is lonely and constantly in trouble. She is regularly beaten by local punks, and the cat is both a friend and an interlocutor. One evening, the girl moves through the portal to another world, where she receives a talking bracelet. Thanks to the decoration, Frey quickly masters a wide variety of magic. A little later it turns out that all this is no coincidence, and the heroine, of course, is special.

Despite a very predictable plot, the story has every chance of being interesting. There is not so much high-quality "high" fantasy now, so the game definitely deserves attention.

The project will be released on PlayStation 5 and PC, which means you can expect full support for all gamepad chips and an incredible level of detail.

dead space

  • Release date: January 27
  • Publisher: Electronic Arts
dead space

The new is the well-forgotten old. This is exactly what the developers decided and made a remake of the very first Dead Space. The game has become noticeably prettier, the characters have been redrawn, and even promised to add new mechanics. But the plot remains unchanged. Before us is the good old "dead space" with all the consequences. On the console from Sony, the project should look like a solid five, and the features of the gamepad will enhance the immersion into a hopeless nightmare.

Players take on the role of Isaac Clarke, a simple engineer sent to the Ishimura space station for repairs. Arriving at their destination, the hero discovers an empty complex filled with strange creatures - necromorphs. Using his tools and skills, Isaac is forced to enter into an unequal battle for survival and find his beloved in the back streets of the Ishimura.

Season: A letter to the future

  • Release date: January 31
  • Publisher: Scavengers Studio
Season: A letter to the future

A cute indie adventure that tells about a girl and her bike journey. On the way, the heroine will meet many characters, and will also look for artifacts and solve puzzles.

Almost nothing is known about the gameplay, the more interesting what happens in the end. As features, you can highlight the colorful cartoonish visual style, which allows you to make the characters memorable and very expressive.

Relaxation games are a rare phenomenon, so the new product is definitely worth a closer look, especially since it comes out at the end of January.

Deliver Us Mars

  • Release date: February 2
  • Publisher: Frontier Foundry
Deliver Us Mars

The continuation of Deliver Us The Moon promises all the same, only better and more. Instead of the Moon, we will study Mars, solving many spatial puzzles and very trivial tasks. The graphics should be noticeably improved, and new animations based on the motion capture of real actors will also be added.

According to the plot, we are waiting for another investigation. If the first part said hello to Interstellar, then the sequel is obviously inspired by The Martian. It remains to be hoped that the developers will make more interesting puzzles and add more staging moments.

Assistant from the previous part in place
Assistant from the previous part in place

The project will open in February 2023. Despite the many AAA hits slated for release this month, we recommend paying close attention to the game.

Hogwarts Legacy

  • Release date: February 10, April 4
  • Publisher: Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
Hogwarts Legacy

One of the most anticipated games not only in February but also of the year. The story will tell about events many decades before Harry Potter. The abundance of opportunities available is breathtaking.

All of Hogwarts and the surrounding area is open to exploration. Moreover, they will be allowed to move not only on a broomstick but also on various animals like thestrals or hippogriffs.

Wow, beauties
Wow, beauties

Detailed customization will allow you to create the most suitable avatar for you. Any of the four faculties can also be chosen at will. Becoming a student of the famous school, you will have to attend classes, learn spells and unravel the secrets of hidden dungeons.

Moreover, judging by the trailers, players will be able to actively use the help room, grow plants there and take care of magical creatures.

The combat system still raises questions, but it looks very impressive. Almost all available spells are applicable in battles. There was even a place for an invisibility cloak.

Dark magic that kills with one hit is also in place. From the gameplay videos, it remains unclear how the developers are going to adjust the balance, but the very presence of such powerful and canonical magic is already a plus.

The plot is rumored to focus on one of the Deathly Hallows, but details are being kept under wraps. As a bonus, we note that the story will unfold over a significant period of time, so players will be able to see Hogwarts in all seasons.

Owners of PC and consoles of the new generation will plunge into the adventure in February, but users of pastgen will have to wait until April.

Wanted: Dead

  • Release date: February 14
  • Publisher: 110 Industries
Wanted: Dead
Wanted: Dead

Gray horse in our top. Despite the many gameplay videos, it is not yet clear whether the project will be successful. The main character is a member of a special police squad - Hannah Stone. She has as many as three branches of abilities that turn the gameplay into a mixture of The Matrix and Devil May Cry. This is because the girl is equally good at both ranged and melee combat. There is also time delay.

The trailer is reminiscent of a crazy anime like the recent Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (Cyberpunk: Edgerunners), but the battles themselves do not cause much enthusiasm. However, impressions can directly depend on the level of pumping.

When I crossed the road in the wrong place

Wanted: Dead has every chance of being the start of a long-running franchise, and there aren't many good slashers on consoles these days. The release is scheduled for Valentine's Day.

Atomic Heart

  • Release date: February 21
  • Publisher: Focus Entertainment
Atomic Heart

Another expected game of the year, in the release of which few believed at all. Postponements, scandals, and investigative journalism are behind us - the project is finally ready.

"Atomic Heart" offers to plunge into an alternative history, where the USSR became a superpower on a much larger scale. Soviet cyberpunk has captured the minds of people both literally and figuratively, and robots do all the routine work.

In stories like this, things always go wrong, and this case is no exception. Machines rebel and threaten to subjugate humanity. In the role of one of the most experienced operatives, you will have to understand the situation, unraveling the secrets of the mysterious enterprise 826 along the way.

The gameplay is most reminiscent of the BioShock series. The protagonist can shoot from several types of weapons, as well as fight in close combat. A bonus is a smart glove, which not only gives supernatural abilities but also helps with advice.

Promise a detailed damage system
Promise a detailed damage system

No one fully understands how Atomic Heart will turn out. However, we are still looking forward to the project, because in what other game can you plunge into such a familiar atmosphere of the “scoop”, generously seasoned with science fiction.

The Day Before

  • Release Date: March 1
  • Publisher: MYTONA
The Day Before

An ambitious MMO shooter from a Russian studio that promises to be Tom Clancy's The Division at maximum speed. In the post-apocalyptic world, players will not only have to survive but also fight zombies and ruthless bandits.

Wide opportunities for social interaction, an open world, and the need to look for resources are just a small part of what will definitely be in the game.

There are not so many gameplay videos, but they all pleasantly surprise with their realism and attention to detail. Weather conditions, time of day, and terrain - everything matters not only for the characters but also for any type of transport.

Nothing is known about the features of the console versions, but we should expect an excellent picture and support for all the PS5 chips. The game is due out on March 1st, but there may be delays.

Skull and Bones

  • Release Date: March 9
  • Publisher: Ubisoft Entertainment
Skull and Bones

A long-suffering project born out of Ubisoft's attempt to make a little more money from the pirate-themed Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. The gameplay involves exclusively naval battles between ships and entire fleets. This confirmed the multiplayer mode.

So far the game feels like an updated version of the Corsairs, which is not bad in itself, but success depends on too many unknown factors. The plot also lacks originality. Becoming the king of pirates is a so-so motivation for many hours of online swims.

The game was first announced back in 2017. Such a long-term construction from Ubisoft is a rarity, which means it is interesting to look at the final result.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

  • Release date: March 17
  • Publisher: Electronic Arts
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Continuation of the acclaimed Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, loved by gamers for its interesting plot, good combat system, and varied use of the Force. In the second part, Cal Kestis noticeably matured, turning into a stern, gloomy warrior. Details of the story are being kept under wraps, but it's clear from the trailers that it's been several years since Fallen Order's ending. The hero will be confronted by someone resembling a Jedi, presumably from the Golden Age of the Republic.

The combat system will expand and become more complex. Cal will learn several stances, each of which will have its own variation of the sword - double blade, standard, two blades in each hand. Depending on the circumstances, the racks will have to be changed on the go. A blaster will be added to the arsenal, and there should be more assistants.

I'm Kylo Ren now
I'm Kylo Ren now

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor looks like the perfect sequel, where all the best features of the first part are taken to a whole new level. There is only one thing - the project will not have an official Russian translation, even subtitles. However, until mid-March, the situation may still change - hope dies last.

Resident Evil 4 Remake

  • Release date: March 24
  • Publisher: Capcom
Resident Evil 4 Remake

The players liked the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3, so the rethinking of the fourth part was only a matter of time. Many consider it to be the best in the series, and for good reason - the atmosphere, characters, and combat created an almost perfect balance of storytelling, horror, and fierce battles.

The main character was a friend from the second part, Leon Kennedy. A grown-up policeman goes to a godforsaken village to save the president's daughter. Resident Evil 4 Remake is impressive, first of all, visually, but they promise to add content. The game will be released towards the end of March.

System Shock

  • Release date: March
  • Publisher: Prime Matter
System Shock

Another remake of a great classic. At one time, System Shock became the benchmark for immersive sim, laying many of the foundations of the genre. In 2023, the project returns to win the hearts of a new generation of gamers.

However, in the production of the game, everything is not so rosy. The announcement was in 2016 when a fundraising company opened. Since then, the project has changed its concept several times, moved to a new engine, and lost the main scriptwriter.

You should not expect any special graphic beauties, since the release was originally planned for the previous generation consoles and PC, but we still hope for success.

It is not completely clear whether the game will be just a technical upgrade or a complete rethinking. If new transfers do not happen, 2023 promises to be the year of long-term construction projects.

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores

  • Release Date: April 19
  • Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment
Like the first part, Horizon Forbidden West could not do without add-ons. In this mini-story, Aloy will visit Los Angeles. The city itself will appear as a huge cluster of islands, between which hot lava floats. Obviously, you will have to move mainly by air. The bad news for all PlayStation 4 owners is that the DLC will only be released on Roll 5 in mid-April.

Dead Island 2

  • Release Date: April 28
  • Publisher: Deep Silver
Dead Island 2

A series of long-term construction, the release of which is scheduled for 2023, is still far from over. For the first time, they started talking about Dead Island 2 in 2014, but the development was delayed due to the regular change of responsible persons. In 2022, the project finally reached the finish line. It is not clear whether it will be at least something radically different from the same Dying Light 2 Stay Human, except for the presence of guns, but we believe in the best.

As in the first part, you fight zombies using firearms and melee weapons. The story will unfold in Los Angeles. There are six diverse characters to choose from, each with individual skills.

They promise a realistic dismemberment system, greater variability of opponents, and tons of weapons. Sounds good, but not enough to stand up to the competition. It remains to be hoped that the developers held back the main trump cards until the release.

It’s also better not to dream about graphic splendor - the game is also being released on pastgen. The release is scheduled for the end of April, we keep our fingers crossed so that nothing changes again.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

  • Release Date: May 26
  • Publisher: Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

New from the creators of the Batman: Arkham trilogy will show the right knights of Gotham. Despite the fact that there is not a single gameplay trailer, the developers have already announced the co-op. In total, there are four heroes in the game Suicide Squad: Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Shark King, and Captain Boomerang. Together they must stop the Justice League, which Brainiac has taken control of. Lots of videos and jokes included.

It is not yet clear how the project will be played, but we are definitely waiting for it. The developers have not failed yet, and after the failure of Gotham Knights, the universe beloved by many is in desperate need of rehabilitation. We expect at the end of May.

Street Fighter 6

  • Release Date: June 2
  • Publisher: Capcom
Street Fighter 6

The new number plate of Street Fighter is already an event of the summer in itself. The game will also be released on the consoles of the previous generation, which means that you should not expect graphic records. But it doesn't matter, because the original visual style has always favorably distinguished the series from its competitors. As a bonus, the developers promised two new modes - a single-player campaign and multiplayer.

There is not much to say about the gameplay. All fighting game connoisseurs will feel right at home. Beginners will be able to touch the beautiful because the Street Fighter series is as important as Mortal Kombat and Tekken.

Diablo 4

  • Release date: June 6
  • Publisher: Blizzard Entertainment
Diablo 4

Each new Diablo is a global event. In the fourth part, the developers decided to try something new and made a bias towards multiplayer. Now players will be able to see each other, and if necessary, help. The main villain this time will be Lillith, the demoness of succubi. As the story progresses, the conflict is likely to get more complicated, but the details are still unknown. It will be possible to get acquainted with hell in early June.

Officially, players from Russia will not be able to buy Diablo 4, so if you are among the fans, get ready to look for all kinds of crutches to purchase and connect to Battle.net.

Final Fantasy 16

  • Release Date: June 22
  • Publisher: Square Enix
Final Fantasy 16

The list of the most anticipated games on the PlayStation with the exact release date completes the sixteenth Final Fantasy. The story tells about the fate of the knight Clive Rosfield, who possesses the mighty power of Ifrit.

According to the first trailers, the new part looks much darker and more mature than the fun road trip of Prince Noctis. Before us is a real dark fantasy with nudity and fountains of blood. The combat system has also changed accordingly.

Final Fantasy 16
War is war, and stroking dogs is on schedule

It was decided to focus on real-time action, which means Final Fantasy 16 should become almost a slasher. The battles between mythical creatures into which the chosen heroes turn into are also intriguing. If earlier Ifrit, Phoenix, Shiva, and other elementals served as a kind of ultimate abilities, now it seems that there will be an opportunity to play for them. I would also like a Russian translation, at least in the form of subtitles, but there is very little hope for this.

The following games do not have an exact release date. They can easily be moved to 2024, but there are a number of circumstances that make us believe in an early release.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

  • Release date: 2023
  • Publisher: Square Enix
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

The reimagining of Endgame 7 was a hit, but only part of the story was told in the remake. Fans have been waiting for a sequel for several years, and it will definitely appear. It is doubtful that the official number part came out at the same time as the second chapter of the rethinking, but at the end of 2023, it is a different matter.

Cloud vs. Sephiroth is in full swing and is set to release exclusively on PS5.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2

  • Release Date: Fall 2023
  • Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment
Marvel's Spider-Man 2

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is one of Sony's top console games and has been selling units for months. So far, the estimated release date is autumn, but there is practically no information about the project. An announcement trailer and a bunch of rumors, that's all fans can be content with.

It is known for sure that the sequel will immediately have Peter Parker and Miles Morales, you can switch between them at any time. Venom will also appear, but he is unlikely to become the main villain. Craven the hunter sounded in the video, which means we are in for an interesting confrontation with a character who has not yet appeared in films.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

  • Release date: 2023
  • Publisher: Ubisoft Entertainment
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

A completely incomprehensible game, which we are nevertheless very much looking forward to. The project is handled by Ubisoft, which means you should count on a large open world. Judging by the trailer, part of the gameplay (or all) will be in the first person.

The hero will have to participate in the next confrontation with people seeking to enslave Pandora. The plot should not repeat the two released films and will tell a completely new story with an unfamiliar Navi.

With a high degree of probability, the project may be postponed to 2024, however, with the release of Avatar: The Way of Water, the fashion for blue men has returned again, which means that Ubisoft may well hurry up. You can also count on cameos of famous characters - the game intends to become part of the official canon and supplement everything that we learned about Pandora from two feature films.

Alan Wake 2

  • Release date: 2023
  • Publisher: Epic Games Publishing
Alan Wake 2

The continuation of the story of the writer, faced with the other world, is waiting, as they say, with the whole world. The first part turned out to be so confusing and interesting that the sequel instantly took the top lines of the tops of expectations. It seems that Alan Wake 2 will be much more horror than a thriller with elements of mysticism. It is still too early to judge the project, except for the announcement trailer, there is simply no other information.

Lies of P

  • Release date: 2023
  • Publisher: NEOWIZ
Lies of P

Perhaps it is this project that is most likely to be released in 2023. Many gameplay and story trailers have already demonstrated that the game is ready, it's up to polishing. You take on the role of Pinocchio, who methodically clears the city of hordes of evil dolls in the process of searching for his father.

The gameplay is inspired by Bloodborne but has a number of distinguishing features. For example, Pinocchio will be able to choose whether to tell the NPC the truth or lie. Depending on the decisions, not only the ending of the quests changes but also the ending as a whole.

The hero will be able to wear various hand prostheses, allowing you to diversify the battle tactics. Thanks to many important details and features, the battles look more dynamic and spectacular than FromSoftware. In addition, it is easier for the player to change the created build for a specific situation and reconfigure skills, which also adds to the playability.

Assassin's Creed Mirage

  • Release date: 2023
  • Publisher: Ubisoft Entertainment
Assassin's Creed Mirage

Assassin's Creed Mirage will follow the adventures of Basim, a character that players may have met in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. The concept of "Assassins" has changed again, and now the developers want to return to their roots - assassinations from the shadows and social stealth. It sounds interesting, especially since we still haven’t received a remake of the very first part. The main setting will be Baghdat, which will be comparable in size to Paris from Assassin's Creed Unity.

The developers want to motivate players to focus on stealth, so all open encounters should be a serious test of skills. Basim will start his journey as a street thief and will not immediately turn into an experienced killer. This will affect the gameplay and available features.

Unfortunately, in addition to the announcing trailer, gamers were not presented with anything, and therefore all the promises of the developers have yet to be verified.

Hollow Knight: Silksong

  • Release date: 2023
  • Publisher: Team Cherry
Hollow Knight: Silksong

Continuation of the hardcore platformer, which easily competed in complexity with the projects of Hidetaka Miyazaki (Hidetaka Miyazaki). In the sequel, you take control of the hunter Hornet. Unlike the previous protagonist, she uses a needle as a weapon and moves much faster.

Fans will receive a new portion of their favorite cabbage soup, and everyone else will be able to get acquainted with the hit, since knowledge of the first part is not necessary here.

The Wolf Among Us 2

  • Release date: 2023
  • Publisher: LCG Entertainment, Athlon Games
The Wolf Among Us 2

Another project with a single trailer that is still worth the wait. Based on the Fables comic book series, the original featured the sheriff of the fictional town of Fabletown, Bigby.

According to all the canons of noir detectives, the protagonist smoked a lot, slept little, and was always depressive and melancholy. However, there was something else important - the sheriff is the same big and terrible wolf who once destroyed a family of pigs, ate a red cap, and did many other dark things. By your own will or by force of circumstances, you could turn into a huge vicious beast, which added to the poignancy of the story.

Unfortunately, the developers of the first part went bankrupt and did not have time to make a sequel. Years later, another studio decided to revive the stylish project. A new case, all the same heroes, and a thick captivating atmosphere. This is what we are waiting for.

***

Of course, the list is still subject to change. Something will be postponed, postponed to another date, or unexpectedly released ahead of schedule. However, these games seemed to us the most interesting to play on the PlayStation. In 2022, none of the developers have used the PS5 to its fullest. We hope that this will change in 2023.
