How to find all the small keys to locked chests of drawers in Resident Evil 4 (2023)

Resident Evil 4 Remake has no shortage of treasures to be found in each of the three main regions. Some are hidden behind puzzles, while others require Small Keys. If you stumble upon a locked chest of drawers, this means that you need to find the key first, and then the treasure.

Whether you're looking to complete Resident Evil 4's merchant treasure maps, or you're just looking to cash in, below are all the locations where you can find Small Keys scattered throughout the game. If you are wondering what is hidden inside each locked box, you can find this information in the last section.

For every locked chest you find in Resident Evil 4 Remake, there is a Small Key hidden somewhere in the same region. You can open them in any order. Any key can open any box.

The only thing to note is that once you've crossed the point of no return in a region, you won't be able to go back and claim any treasures you missed unless you've done a manual save beforehand. If you start a new game and save it after finishing the game the previous time, you will have to collect all the treasures again.

In total, eight Small Keys can be collected in Resident Evil 4 Remake, covering the first two regions. There are no locked boxes on the island, so be sure to grab everything you need before you leave the village and castle.

The description indicates the number of the chapter in which you first encounter the item, but you can take it at any time until you cross the point of no return. In the village, this happens when you are heading to the extraction point with Ashley. In the Castle, this happens when you enter the clock tower.

Reward from boxes

Most of the items in the crates are for sale only, but there is also a gem and treasure with slots to increase its gem price.

As for the locations, they are very easy to find. To find all the crates, buy an area treasure map from the merchant to pinpoint exactly where they are. But she does not reveal the location of the Small Keys.

Rewards for closed boxes:

  • Abandoned Factory Locked Crate: Elegant Mask (Costs 5000 without gems)
  • Village Square Locked Crate: Vintage Compass (worth 8000);
  • Quarry Lockbox at merchant's post: brass pocket watch (worth 8000);
  • Lakeside Settlement Locked Crate: Gold Bar (L) (worth 15,000);
