Sons of the Forest: Find flashlight - Game Guide

 When you're exploring the dark caverns of Sons of the Forest, or when you're out at night, your vision can be pretty limited. A flashlight would be the right tool for this and luckily you can find one on the island. Where exactly you have to look, we explain to you in our short guide.

Location of the flashlight

The flashlight is practically found fairly quickly because the location is already marked on the map of your GPS device. This is one of the three exclamation mark symbols on the map. You need to head to the easternmost of the three points, which is near the mountain range that's in the middle of the map.

When you have reached your goal and are standing exactly at the point, you cannot see anything at first. This is because the corpse is hanging in the air on a rope with the GPS tracker that your GPS device locates. You need to go to a cliff further up and look for a rope on the cliff that has been tied around a rock (see image above). Then, for example, take out your ax and cut through the rope with one stroke. The corpse then falls to the ground and you can loot the items. The flashlight is to the left of the body.

The glowing item to the left of the corpse is the flashlight. 

Charge flashlight

There is a power meter at the top of the flashlight's handle. Unfortunately, when you use the flashlight, you always consume energy and the display slowly drains. Similar to the stun gun, you need batteries to recharge the flashlight. If the flashlight's energy is used up, batteries will be used automatically if you have any in your inventory.

It's annoying that the flashlight requires batteries, of course, but it has one advantage over a torch. The flashlight can be held in the left hand like the lighter, so you can arm yourself at the same time. The torch, on the other hand, is equipped in your right hand.

If it's just a matter of having a light source, then the torch is a very good alternative. All you have to do is combine a stick and some cloth to craft a torch. Some players are having trouble lighting the torch. When you pull out the torch, you must also pull out the lighter. Then hold down the button indicated on the screen ('L' by default) to light the torch.

With your lighter out, hold L on your keyboard to ignite your torch.
