Where to find and how to use solar panels in Sons of the Forest

 

A lot of new content has been added to Sons of the Forest with the recent update, including solar panels. With their help, you can light up your camp in the dark. Where to find them and how to use them - we will tell in this guide.

Where to find solar panels

Players can find such gadgets mainly in underground bunkers and dungeons. It is almost impossible to find them in the open world, with the exception of yellow boxes, in which they can sometimes appear. The map below shows all the dungeons where we managed to find them during the passage of the story campaign.

Look around the bunkers with 3D printers. There will always be several solar panels here.

The player is allowed to carry three solar panels in their inventory at a time. So if you want to stock up on these devices, take a friend with you, save at the panel spawn location, gather items, and load your last save. After loading, they will reappear in their places, and you can take them to the camp.

In the inventory, the solar panels are stored in the upper right corner, next to the ropes, tarps, and hooks.

How to use solar panels

You can find a clue in your guide, under the Electricity Basics tab. Players are free to place panels on any ramp, but we recommend placing them on the rooftops of buildings where you can run wires and light up the objects you need.

In addition to panels, you will need to find LED lamps and wire. We describe these resources in more detail in the next section.

Where to find light bulbs and wire

Resources are often found in plastic containers with yellow lids, bunkers, abandoned camps, and caches. You can usually find several light bulbs and coils of wire at once near the place where you found the solar panel.

How to connect light bulbs to solar panels and run an electrical wire

You can install a solar panel on any ramp. To do this, place two logs vertically, two at an angle, and then put boards between them.

After that, put the solar panel on the ramp.

It remains only to run the wires along the logs and connect the light bulb. Wire can only be attached to whole logs.

It is important that the wire you run is attached to one of the logs under which the wires from the solar panel go.

As we noted earlier, it is best to place such devices on the roofs of your buildings. In a similar way, you can lead wires to any place in your camp and light it up at night.
