This error prevents you from starting your game, so it is something completely essential to know how to solve if it appears. Don't worry, it's very simple.

How to fix error creating profiles folder

  • This error is identified by a message such as "Could not create directory: ?/Larian StudiosBaldur's Gate 3".
  • The first thing you should do is temporarily disable your antivirus.
  • Then, relaunch the game (close and reopen it), and try again.
  • If the problem persists, go to your Windows protection. Unless you have a special program activated, in most cases this means that you must type Windows Security in the search engine.
  • Once there, you need to go to Virus & Threat Protection> Manage ransomware protection (at the bottom of the window).
  • There, look for the option Allow an application to access one of the controlled folders.
  • If you are not in an administrator session, it will ask you for administrator permissions.
  • In the new window, you simply need to give the Baldur's Gate 3 application permissions to access the shared folder (it should be Bg3.exe).
  • Close the game, reapply all antivirus and protections that you may have disabled to carry out this action, and launch the game again and the problem should have been solved.
