CoD Modern Warfare 3: Save disk space and reduce installation weight

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, the new installment of the popular Activision FPS saga, is now available and as always is accompanied by a crucial detail for many players; an excessively high installation weight on the hard drives of our computers and consoles. Due to the combined integration with other games in the franchise, such as Warzone or Modern Warfare 2 (2022), the weight of this game can rise above 200GB in weight ... real nonsense.

It is quite likely that many players will encounter problems when installing the game due to lack of space. However, fortunately, there is a way to lighten this burden and manage the installation files so that the game takes up much less time. In this entry of our guide, we are going to reveal how to do it.

How to manage installation files and free up space?

If you have already installed Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 on your PC or console, you can still manage the installation files to free up space on your hard drive so that the game does not take up as much space. It is not necessary to completely uninstall the game, but you can uninstall certain parts and specific modes that you know you are not going to play.

To do this, what you have to do is the following once you access the game:

  • From any game menu open the general panel.
  • Now scroll to the “Settings” tab (gear icon).
  • In the following options, enter the "Manage files" section.
  • Here you can decide what content you want to keep installed or uninstall.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 features direct integration with Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and also Call of Duty Warzone, so you can manage your installation files to, for example, uninstall all of Modern Warfare 2 if you are no longer interested in accessing its contents.

Likewise, if you know that you are not going to play Warzone multiplayer modes, you can uninstall it to save yourself quite a few GB of space. The same goes for the MW3 campaign; If you have already played it and are not going to return to it, you can access the section of this game in file management and delete it so that it does not take up so much space.

Of course, you can skip what we have explained to you if during the initial installation of Modern Warfare 3 you decide what exactly you want to install about the game, since from both PC and consoles you can decide if you want to install the multiplayer modes and the campaign, or only one of the two parts , for example.
