We show you the method to follow to be able to recruit a hellhound to help you in your games of the Zombies mode of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (2023) and how you can pet it.
One of the most special features that the Zombies mode of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (2023) presents is that it allows players to "train" a hellhound to lend them a hand and help them kill those infected by Urzikistan, such as if it were a companion controlled by the AI.
Don't know where to get these helper hellhounds or what you need to get them to join your team? Don't worry, we explain it to you in detail in this entry of our guide, and we even tell you how you can pet it.
Where to find a hellhound companion?
The first thing you need to know in order to recruit a hellhound companion in MWZ is what their locations are in the open world of Urzikistan. These types of dogs can appear everywhere as enemies that attack us, but in reality, there are some locations on the map that are used to get a hound that will be our companion and not our rival.
- These locations are known as "Doghouses" and have a map icon similar to a doghouse.
- However, the positions of the kennels can vary in each game and are not always fixed.
- That is, you can visit a place where there should supposedly be a kennel, but it does not appear.
There is a randomness factor that makes it a bit more of a pain to find the kennels beyond simply going to the location of one, but still, keep in mind that when you pass near one it will mark its location on your map if it is available. so you can recognize it more easily.
On the other hand, kennels are recognized by sight because they are large doghouse that is on fire. When you pass near one there will be no chance of getting confused.
Map with all kennel locations
Below we share a map of Uzbekistan with the 13 kennel locations where you can recruit hellhounds:
Remember that in a game there do not have to be all of these kennels available. If you visit one of the designated locations and there is no kennel, continue looking for it in one of the other areas.
How to get the hellish dog out of the house?
Let's say you've already found an available kennel in MWZ and now you want to spawn a hellhound companion. Well, to do this you need to approach the booth and interact with it to deposit a "Chunk of Meat" in it.
"Meat Chunks" are a type of item that can be obtained completely randomly in Zombies mode. In fact, it is a type of object that zombies can drop when you kill them, but its appearance is not very frequent. You will have to kill a lot of zombies to get some of these chunks; While you do it, be sure to check the loot they drop in case they fall to the ground.
- Once you have "Meat Chub" in your inventory, interact with the kennel (the doghouse).
- Place a unit of "Meat Chub" from your backpack in a space in the kennel.
- Then close the inventory menu and a hellhound companion to the shed should appear.
Be careful, we say "it should appear" because this does not always work. Sometimes no hellhounds may spawn at all. According to opinions from the gaming community, dogs only appear in some booths if you deliver 2 or more "Meat Chubs", and not just one.
If this unfortunately happens to you, look for another available kennel and try to deliver two "Meat Chubs" or as many as you can to ensure that the dog appears.
If it works in the end, a hellhound will appear from the hut and will be your ally for the rest of the game. You don't need to give the dog orders or anything specific, he will simply follow you wherever you go and if he sees zombies he won't hesitate to attack them. In addition, it is believed that the power of this dog scales depending on the area and the difficulty in which you are.
How to pet the hellish dog?
One of the trophies/achievements in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (2023) is titled "You Can Pet the Dog" and is evidently petting a hellhound in MWZ. This is something that can be done with the cucho, but like almost everything that surrounds these companions, it depends a lot on chance.
- From what has been reported, not all hellhounds seem to have the option to pet you.
- In general, it is usually enough to approach the hound and for the pet button to appear.
- If you have trouble getting the button to appear, make sure you don't have zombies or enemies around.
- On the other hand, you can try not having any weapons equipped (just your fists) to force the pet button to appear as well.
Apparently, the message about interacting with the dog to pet it may have errors, so it is not guaranteed that you will be able to do it. Don't despair if the game doesn't allow it.
