Knowing this, Mikasa is forced to perform the difficult act of killing Eren. After shattering the Titan's teeth, Mikasa decapitates the man she has loved all her life , but before his head is cut off, they exchange a look full of love, understanding that the future depends on this moment.

Mikasa kisses Eren on the lips, despite the unconventional context, and Ymir, moved by Mikasa's decision to kill Eren for the common good, decides to no longer power the Titans. Ymir had been unable to resist her own love for King Fritz, who never returned it.

Witnessing Eren's death at the hands of Mikasa is devastating, especially given that Mikasa and Eren were considered the final couple of the series. The tragedy of this scene is indescribable.

After the battle, it is revealed that Eren had actually contacted his friends in the planeswalker's mind before the fight ended. He wanted to explain to them why he had started the Smash, but he had made sure that their memories of these conversations would not return until after his defeat.

Eren had gained the ability to see into the future when he gained his new powers. Time was no longer linear for him, and he understood that he had to become the villain to save Paradis and restore the image of his friends in the eyes of the world, putting an end to the conflict between the races that had marked their existence.

Eren also reveals that he had always loved Mikasa, finally confessing his feelings, but Armin rejects and slaps him, at least in Eren's dream who visited Armin before he died.

Mikasa spends time with Eren in a charming cabin in the middle of nature, but Eren is now gone, murdered by Mikasa's hand. Back in the present, all the Titans permanently transform into humans, but the survivors are suspicious and threaten the group with guns, demanding that they prove they are no longer a threat. Armin finally manages to convince them to calm down with his eloquence, which leads to a truce.

Mikasa takes Eren's head and decides to bury it under the tree in Shiganshina district, where it all began. A bird lands at that moment and adjusts his scarf, the same one that Eren had given him years ago. Eren is now like a bird, at least his soul, symbolizing his quest for freedom.

At the end, we discover that the world has not yet found peace, despite the death of Eren which had eliminated 80% of humanity.
