Episode 8 of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End arrives on Friday, November 24, 2023 at 7 a.m. (PT) on streaming platforms like Crunchyroll! The story follows Frieren, an elven sorceress who was part of a group of adventurers who defeated the king of demons, bringing harmony to the world after a decade-long quest. This group, consisting of Frieren, the human hero Himmel, the dwarf warrior Eisen, and the human priest Heiter, split up after observing the comet shower in Era, a rare event occurring every 50 years.

Frieren promised to meet them again at the next festival, in 50 years. Subsequently, she undertook a trip around the world to deepen her knowledge of magic. Returning to the capital after 50 years, Frieren discovers that humanity has evolved and that his companions have aged. Himmel dies of old age after a final trip to see the comet shower, leaving Frieren with regrets for not learning more about him. She visits her former companions, agrees to take care of Fern, a child adopted by Heiter, and then decides to travel to the far north, where the souls of the deceased are said to reside, to see Himmel again and bid him farewell.

Due to his elven nature, Frieren enjoys exceptional longevity, perceiving time differently than his mortal companions. Flashbacks punctuate the story, which extends over a considerable period of time. The focus is not only on Frieren but also on the physical and psychological development of the other characters.
