The different types of AMD FreeSync
When we use our PC to play games, in addition to good graphics and good components on the PC we must also have a good monitor. Generally, monitors have high refresh rates for action games and low response times, but we must also ensure that our monitor has some technology that allows us to synchronize the images sent by the graphics card with it. This is in the case of NVIDIA known as G-SYNC and in AMD it is called FreeSync, in this guide, we are going to focus on How to know if your Monitor is compatible with FreeSync.
AMD has based itself on the VESA Adaptive Sync standard to create its own technology that synchronizes the images coming out of the graphics card with the monitor. To qualify for this technology, it is enough for the monitor to comply with this standard and include Adaptive Sync, something that will also be useful to be able to use compatibility with NVIDIA G-SYNC if you have an NVIDIA graphics card. But AMD does not have this limitation, you can use its FreeSync technology with its graphics or with graphics from other brands, no problem.
With the passage of time, FreeSync has also been improved, although it is not a technology that requires specific or additional hardware, through software they have been adapting to new times and new technologies that allow the full potential of the new hardware that is coming out. market. For this, there are 3 versions of its technology:
- FreeSync, which offers a seamless experience and low latency.
- FreeSync Premium, in addition to the features included in FreeSync, must at least have a 120Hz refresh rate with FHD resolution and support Low Frame Rate Compensation (LFC).
- FreeSync Premium Pro includes all the features of FreeSync Premium, plus adds low latency SDR and HDR and HDR support with color and brightness certification.
